This was probably brought up already, but if you put more than one space between characters in a comment, it removes the spaces. So
Hi!
renders as
Hi!
This can be used to circumvent the duplicate comment filter.
Additionally, my friend says this doesn't work for him, but it works for me. I'm on a Mac using Safari; he's on a PC using Chrome (if this matters at all).
EDIT: According to my friend, it DOES remove the spaces for him, but it still counts it as a duplicate.
What is the source of this?

I think it's because people were probably posting really long comments with loads of new lines, so they decided to stop that, but they also deleted extra spaces as well as new lines.

HTML automatically truncates all line breaks and extra (more than one) spaces into a single one.
