Hi,
I'm running version 1.3.1 of Scratch at my school. Students use a restricted version of windows XP Pro, all with the same configuration. When I log on as a teacher, Scratch works perfectly, but when students use it some of them can't load/import additional costumes for a particular sprite (all Sprites load fine). Also, some students can't even load a background on their stage. What makes this strange is that the same costumes and backgrounds (that didn't load) do seem to randomly work on other student PC's.
Any ideas folks? Could this be file permissions? File types?
Thanks,
Richard

School computers sometimes have restrictions that can cause problems, perhaps the restrictions placed on the students computers randomly affect some users while leaving others alone.
Out of curiosity, what file type are the students using? I know your student are using the latest version of SCRATCH, but, from prior experience, some older versions of SCRATCH had problems dealing with certain .bmp files. Maybe you could try converting the files to a .png file and see what happens (just going out on a limb here).

Restricted Version of Windows XP Pro? Odd...
Cheddargirl: I thought it was the other way around. .Png files won't work but .bmp will...??

Never heard of the .png problem before, and that's certainly odd because SCRATCH's default costumes in the folder are .png files (how odd that costumes made in SCRATCH can't be exported as .png
). I remember having difficulty uploading .bmp files when I had the older SCRATCH 1.3. I had to save everything as a .png file so they could upload properly.
I do know that some computers don't handle .png files too well, maybe that could also be an issue concerning the RPotts's problem.
