Nitronic Rush: an "experimental survival driving game"

http://nitronic-rush.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/story_mode_2.png
Nitronic Rush is an awesome survival driving game that I've been playing for some time now. It's completely free, and its description sums the game up quite nicely:

Nitronic Rush is an experimental survival driving game developed by students at DigiPen Institute of Technology. Use the car’s many abilities (including boost, wings, and jump) to avoid obstacles that the city throws at you. Prove your abilities and impress the announcer by performing tricks. In many ways the game is a tribute to racing games of the 1990′s, but with fresh graphics and gameplay.

In addition, the team built the game from the ground up, without using any engines at all (save for the Waveworks Interactive Sound Engine). The game also features local and online high score lists off of which you can race ghosts. You can also change your "online group" to share scores with friends or other groups of people. Competing for scores has grabbed a lot of my time lately, because the game's so awesome! If you are/were a fan of games like Rush 2049, are a driving game person in general, or just want to see what it's like, I highly recommend that you try Nitronic Rush.

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell that the image links to it, the website is here.

I've wanted to play it ever since I saw TotalBiscuit's review. But I'm not sure if my computer would be able to handle it, and I'm also not sure if the website is worthy of my trust.

I meant system requirements.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305D laptop with a AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2 GHz processor and 3 GB of RAM.

This doesn't exactly measure up to the recommended hardware, and I don't want to spend 2+ hours just to have it lag. What specs does your setup run?

2.8GHz Athlon x2 240 processor

1 GB Sapphire Radeon 5570 (video card)

I'm sure you can run it.
