I don't get the joke about the dollar sign.
Didn't you ever play Life? (The board game, not the cellular automata one.) To win you have to get, I forget, something like 40 points, but at the beginning of the game you partition your points among Love, Fame, and Money, and during the game various things happen that give you, say, 5 love points and 3 money points (I guess that combination would be marrying a rich person ) and you have to make the number you said you would in each category. And the category symbols are heart, star, dollar sign respectively.
(Sadly, I worked out as a kid that the way to win was to go for mostly money, a little fame, and basically no love, and then you go to college and go into business. But that's not the strategy I recommend in real life.)

@Liru I'm pretty sure that you can upload projects from 1.3 now, and the ST has said that Scratch 2.0 will play v1.4 projects.
-------------------------------------------
I noticed that it said that a beta of 2.0 will be released at Scratch Day. Does this mean only Scratch Day @ MIT, or the website on Scratch Day?

I don't think you'd be able to submit projects.
How else would it be able to read projects already on the site? Even if we have to go figure out a new submit method, 1.4 projects have to still be compatible with the player...

Thanks lightning for posting some more screenshots of scratch 2.0. The new website looks awesome and I really like the idea of the "backpack". The only things, I don't like yet are the GRAY say blocks and the ugly new flag. As someone already said before me, please use the one from the pre-alpha or the one from the forums.
BTW: Did you decide to leave the "Add a random object" feature out, or will this be implemented later?

Yes you will. I can't remember where, but I definitely saw it confirmed somewhere.

Maybe on the blog? Probably on some forum post somewhere...or the Scratch 2.0 FAQ, wherever that is...

Anyway, looking forward to it (PLEASE make the offline version a bit nicer, cos the Green Flag looks horrible)
Point made.

I think I know how that "Credits" section gets updated. The same way as project notes.
Source: ScratchR source.

Ah, since you have figured it out, you should tell us!
The credits area has yet to be fully fleshed out. We do want to add the ability to manually add Scratchers to it, so it shows not only those whose code / scripts you have remixed, but also those who gave good ideas, or -, that the automatic credit giver cannot detect.

I agree. The editor pane is a bit disappointing, isnt it?
But they did say early alpha, so anything could happen!

Well I have to admit.
The green flag block does need some touching up.

I didn't fully understand the joke in the first sentence... I just figured it out while browsing through ScratchR. That stuff is complicated!

Looks good! But shouldn't Sensing and Triggers be the same thing? And might Scratch 2.0 include an alternate, more minimalist view?

Ah, those gray blocks - that's a bug. I should've caught it before making the screenshot. Sorry for the confusion, everyone! I'll have to update it. The say blocks will not be gray- they'll be regular old purple.
re: Random sprite - I don't think we'll put it in there, but I'm not sure about this. To me, it doesn't seem useful enough to justify the precious space it takes up in the UI.

Ah, not minimalist enough for you! That's not one we hear too often. Usually Scratchers want more features.
Right now the plan is to have only one view, to avoid confusion when teaching others how to do things in Scratch. For example, If you are on the forums explaining to someone new to Scratch how to do something, it's easy to forget which view they are in compared to yours.
Triggers will be for hat blocks, and sensing will be very similar to the way it is now.

Can we get more screen-shots?
I find them very interesting, and I think we'd all love to see all we can!
