I support, but will this increase the download size or require internet connection?

Thanks for your support!
The whole point of this suggestion is to make it so that you have access to the dictionary without needing to manually put it in the project, so it won't increase download size. Depending on how the ST would decide to accomplish this would affect whether you would need an Internet connection. If they choose to use a built-in Flash dictionary, then you wouldn't. If they decide to use an online API, then you would.

Ok, I see now.

I agree;; I bet a dictionary for Flash would be easy to find.

I like it
though <is [] a word>, you could possibly just do:
if <not <(input) = (((input) + (1) ) - (1))> > set [report v] to [true] else set [report v] to [false] end

No, this checks to see if it is a word, not a string. "Word" is a word, but "zbhsdbhi" isn't. Your method report true for both.
By the way, thanks for your support!

Yay! Good idea.
*teaches Chrome again that "yay" is a word*

Have you tried using the
<[list v] contains [some_word]>block? It can do pretty much what you are asking...just load up a list of words.
That block is a sharp-ended true/false block by the way...it just shows as a rounded block in the ScratchBlocks.
And it's pretty easy to load up a list too...using the Import command. I made a list that had all the lines of Hamlet in it.Yes, but remember how many words are in the English language--that would take up a lot, if not all, of our precious 10 MB. If we put a built-in dictionary in the player, or if Flash already has one, it would save a lot of project space.
Thanks to Chrischb, MrMonk999, and Scimonster!
Do you know how long a list of words 5KB is?
VERY long.
I've tried it.

I've tried it.
This is why one does not brute-force the dictionary. For example, you can create 26 lists, each containing dictionary words beginning with a certain letter (a's, b's, etc.) If that's not enough, more lists! (aa, ab, ... ba, bb and so on)

I support... but wouldn't a list, built-in or not, be somewhat spacious with 350'000 words in it? Remember that the dictionary must be compatible with Flash, Java, and Scratch 1.4.

No, only Flash. The Java Player will become extinct, and 1.* just won't have the features.

Just above this post, Scimonster expressed my point exactly. See his post.

It'd be a little harder to make, but it'd be cool if there was
<[Hello] is a word in [English v]?>as well.

They would have to create a dictionary for all the languages.
