Check it out and feel free to post questions on this thread! (But be sure to read the Scratch 2.0 FAQ first).

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

Wooohoo! Update!!
Yeah, they look really nice! But a question, what are the dots by the sprites? In the upper right-hand corner, there are some buttons that look like + signs.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

Nice! Glad to hear an update!

I can see I'll be using the backpack often. And I love the new UI design — especially stats on the side and a credits page.

Ah, you mean in the backpack area of the editor? Those are little "x"s you use to delete something from your backpack.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

This is exciting! I really like the idea of having the remixes there and easily accessible. The layout of the site looks really nice, and I can't wait to be able to use vectors in Scratch! Has/will resizability be added?

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's in there. Although I haven't really tried it out yet (the paint editor is still under heavy development).

Awesome! Glad you like it.  smile  We got some outside design consultants to help us with the design / look and feel. I think they've done nice work so far.

Wow, I'm very impressed, It looks very clean and simple!

Will commenting look the same, and what will the credits page look like?

Commenting will be different, as a way of fixing the problems with Scratch's current commenting system. As you probably noticed, the current comment structure can create a lot of confusion. For example:

ScratchCat
Time 0
Do you like bunnies?

     Gobo
     Time 3
     I love them!  smile

     Gobo
     Time 1
     I hate them.  sad

             ScratchCat
             Time 2
             Do you like kittens?

In this comment string, Gobo hates bunnies, but because of the positioning, it kind of looks like she's saying she loves them (at least at a glance - you can tell what's really happening if you look closely at the timestamps, but not everyone will). That's because she can't reply to the 3rd comment deep (a reply to a reply), so she does what many Scratchers do - goes back to the first comment and replies. That way she knows Scratch cat will get notified that she has replied.

In Scratch 2.0, we're thinking we're gonna use the @soAndSo notation that Twitter uses. So the same conversation will look like this:

ScratchCat
Time 0
Do you like Bunnies?

     Gobo
     Time 1
     @ScratchCat I hate them.  sad

     ScratchCat
     Time 2
     @gobo Do you like Kittens?

     Gobo
     Time 3
     @ScratchCat I love them!  smile

That way it's easier to understand the proper order of things, and who is responding to who. Note that you won't have to type @soandso - it'll just get added based on whose comment you click "Reply" on.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

I love the "backpack" idea! Hmm...I think little kids like my sister and brother would prefer the word "backpack" over "clipboard" and older people would rather have "clipboard". Maybe you could make an option where you get to choose the name of your inventory?

Ah -  yeah, the resizers are (currently) in the top toolbar. (Little Magnifying glasses with + an -)

Will remixes still show on a remixed projects, if the original project was deleted?

The section called "Remixes" on the project page will contain only "children" remixes of the project shown.  Right now it's just empty because we haven't implemented it yet.  smile

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

Sweet! The progress looks really cool! (I wonder if I can find the testing site  lol )

The backpack idea is really cool, and I think the name is really good too, clipboard is used far to often and it's not as unique as "backpack". So no reason to change it.  wink

I suggested this and I don't know if anyone saw it. I thought it might help your naming problem. :3
