as for the movie:
if you never read the book, and just saw the movie, it was really good
if you read the book then saw the movie, it was a train wreck

I never bothered to read them because they were like 700 pages long. They were too long, even though I could read them. I have much better things to do.

i dont think awesomeness has anything to do with it
the fact that the movie was so different from the book, from subtle changes to major ones, it just wasnt the book

Oh, u evil king and your haxxing soldiers! Its like one of those videogames where you get shot down to 1 hp and your character is just walking around, not limping, not crawling, not bleeding out...
As for the movie? VOMIT. VOMITVOMITVOMIT. I mean, they left out tons of plot elements, changed Brom's death, killed Sloan... I have this theory that the guy who directed this movie only read the first book.

I really tried to like them
I got like three chapters in on two separate occasions
Then I got kind of sick of trying...
But that was four years ago the first time and one year ago the second
Maybe I'll try again this weekend.
(Oh and it annoyed me how they were all like, 'Oh yeah huh, Eragon is like Dragon with a different first letter. Whoooa. Like nobody noticed that just by glancing at the front cover.')
