How about only permitting images hosted at a site like flickr?
This would mean you'd have to create an account at flickr in order to be able to post images.
If you're going for the 'restricted domain' solution, could my website be allowed? I'm the only one who has FTP access, and I don't have any upload forms. I'd just host my images there. It's typeint.com, though I may put the images on a subdomain.

Can you still make a link to an image tag?

Yes, you can still link to the images you want to post.

More like pictures from Flickr with a certain rating.
Read their TOS; it allows some bad stuff, but they have different ratings.

Yup.

Images should be allowed if they are hosted on the Scratch web site. For example: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=89551

No, he's using the project preview images.
And, I agree with BoltBait - although I don't think we should allow any further image-hosting features than we already do (which are extremely limited).

You were right to disable images in posts for everyone. After all, EVERYONE on the forums was abusing them. I'm glad this was removed, as there were ABSOLUTELY no good ways to use images. Thank you Scratch Team, for making sure that this was removed rather than those helpful blocks that are always used to show scripts and not used for spam at all.

Erm, no. A couple of people were abusing them. There's a big difference.

Hope this isn't too off topic, but I wonder what block spam would look like...
when flag clicked forever go to [silvershine v]'s page if <you like their projects> think to yourself [that person must be really cool v] else think to yourself [that person must be really cool anyways v] end end

I think the img tag should not be disabled to everyone but only to the people that abuse it. I think this is kinda unfair...

Say [:(] Think [ I think this is unfair do you think so? ]

But the problem is that we don't know who will abuse it...

Yeah, and from what I heard, no mods were on when the image attacks broke out.
