Because most people on Scratch are immature, being late to memes and trying to act all cool (This is my biggest complaint with the site). However, they also like to read big weighty books and now have high standards for what they read... standards that do not match their writing abilities. So most things they write is terrible, but they're used to reading things that aren't terrible.

I do sometimes, but I tend to like original fiction masquerading as fan fiction like Luminosity (Twilight with a rational Bella) or the Sacrifices Arc (Harry Potter had a twin, is in Slytherin and his parents survived).
