Ah, ye olde days! <sigh> ...

Don't believe everything others tell you about how things used to be better way back when you weren't around. I must have spent years of my youth agonizing over having missed Woodstock or the Beatles. But then there was Runrig and Peter Yarrow at the Beacon, which happened, of course, before any of you youngsters entered the scene  smile . So, while I do miss Jimi Hendrix and KevinKarplus I'm sure the best days of Scratch are yet to come. We can make it happen!

I second that.  smile

I can make it happen, too. ^_^ And I know how...

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Re: The old days...

It ended when I left? I just think people are moving on and Scratch is reaching out to younger kids more and more. I mean, I'm 14 and feel too old to be here. But yes, I liked it back than when there wasn't much spammage happening throughout the site . . .

Front Page "I drew a cat!" Picture of scratch cat. That's it
Forums "I drew this cat [link]"

Seriously . . . for you n00bs who want to see another "golden age", don't spam the forums first off (as back than, the forums were mostly clean with a few exceptions) and try makign a project to get to know the blocks instead of posting random, as my teacher says "crappage". We welcome n00bs, who aren't spammers  wink  . That being said, that would make another good old days . . .

Re: The old days...

^ You aren't too old! I'm 15 and I'm sure Jens and Paddle2See are a good bit older than us! (No insults, Jen and Paddle2See, it's great to have some experienced adults around!)

Re: The old days...

Ahhh, I remember those days well, Doody did not have a fan base, and the front page was filled with awesome games. I have been trying to recreate that same creativity that emanated from the Scratch website in the old days... Now, all it is is bandwagon jumping.  sad

I have been here 2 years

^ Are you sure? This is 2009, not 2011! And please edit your post rather than double posting, it can be quite annoying sometimes!

Re: The old days...

You know, scratch is not in some kind of devolution or wathever you'd like to call it!

New users also don't know what problems we had with the site back then... You just gotta spend more time to find the good projects, the front page doesn't fills that job anymore.

Re: The old days...

Well then, do something about it. I agree with a lot of people here, but sitting here discussing it doesn't change anything*. I say that you all start seeing if you can make projects with effort and try to get people inspired.

*Virtually anything

Re: The old days...

Good idea! Let's try and organise something to help new scratchers create better projects, maybe we could have more competitions, or rankings, or mentors to help them.
