which of the links should we choose for now? ill temporarily make a few sprites until some1 comes and helps. they might not be great because programming is easier for me but its a start.
This game should be a scrolling game right?
Ill start making a few test projects
is it okay if I edit the intro? just small stuff like making it look more... zeldaiesh?
lol, loading game for scratch would never work so can I delete that block?
its a cool intro and all mabye we could tweak the text a bit to edit it to our own story line but still make it match the pictures
jakeemma: It's a 3D game, not a sidescroller.
Because jakeemma's account got blocked, I'm filling in for him.

Since when is it 3D?
and not side scrolling I mean top down view scrolling,
When is Jakeema account gonna fix? if its permanent than will he make a new account?
making a 3D zelda game would be hard and even the best scratcher such as archmage probably couldn't do that, Jakeema said himself it would be classical zelda game like on the handhelds,
And it says no where that he says its 3D.

He says it will be somewhat 3D, and it will be a blast to the past in some spots.
Also, I haven't heard from him if he wants to create a new account.

Somewhat 3D? im sorry but could you please explain to me what somewhat 3D is. Anyway does he/you think making a 3D scratch game as easy as that? as I said even the best scratch programmer couldn't do it. and mainly because of spiriting reasons. Why couldn't it be just a normal classical style zelda game like I thought original plan. If your filling in for him does that mean your gonna programming? Im just asking but are you in alternative contact with Jakeemma?

the idea is that the overworld will be top-down, but sailing will be 3D, sword fights (not boss fights) will be 3D plus possibly anything else. it would be too much to make a 3D world, but easy to make fixed 3D.

good that makes it alot more possible and easier, borrego. Im really not trying to be rude at all but who gave you that information? Jakeema ? he is in charge of the project. Am I missing something here? is there a post which i failed to read properly about all this?
Sailing as in boats?
Well I guess the fights being 3D and stuff but actually walking and overworld being normal makes it fall under somewhat 3D lol
jakeema must make a new account otherwise this project cannot commence properly because he started it.
Such a shame its a good title and nice intro.

well i made the intro, and all of the 3D Sailing and 3D fighting sprites and scripts, in fact if each thing i made was a "stock" then i would have the most shares and would technically be the president. Maybe i should be temporary leader until he returns- i am sure i can get things going. For example, you cannot design level 1 without me telling you how the auto-save mode works can you?

You made the intro, you gave it to us to use and said you wouldnt get involved, Jakeema never agreed to this 3D sailing thing, somewhat 3D, that would work but you must take it up with.him

i only asked- plus the reason why i did get involved was because i didn't want my hard work going to waste but as soon as (s)he comes back we'll discus which parts are 3D and which parts aren't, although I'm sure a Wind Waker style sailing level would be cool.
Offline
Alright how about you make the 3D parts and I make the overworld and all the other non 3D stuff? But one question, Are you any good at spriting? Dude, leadership? Why not just let us have equal role becUse jakeema is the only true leader, democracy. Any
way what should we start with and when?Jakeema may never come back but we should start discussing which parts are 3D ,

Sword fights or all fights, how about some fights being 3D amd others top down kinda style, cutscenes and such 2d to keep things simple, yes sailing is a good idea and this game needs somthing like that, minigames! So what exacly is the starting bit of the game? Ill start a few test game projects for walking and overworld but, I need sprites, the links I have posted somewhere above has a good collection of sprites but some1 needs to animate them, these sprites will be used for most of the 2d sprites and there are no 3d ones, so which one of them should we use as the overworld walking sprite?

Maybe it might be cool if we based it on Wind Waker, where the over world is sailing, the islands are top down along with the temple on each island, and the boss fight is also top down. Sometimes, you may get a fight in 3D. but you cannot defeat a huge monster in 3D as that would be too complicated. I will become 3D programmer/scripter, you can be the same but with 2D as you said, and we'll both do leadership to keep things fair. Also, if you don't mind I'd like to make some adjustments to the introduction, because I'd like to sort out things like bad sized texts, un-fitting fonts and maybe have the Zelda theme tune played ONLY in the menu, with a separate tune for the animated piece. You could (if you want to) design the "tutorial island" in top-down, and I'll design the sword fighting tutorial for 3D.

cool, thats perfect, go ahead with the intro, but with tutorial island I need sprites, ill try to see if I can get some but I/we really need some sprites.
try http://www.spriters-resource.com/nes/thelegendofzelda/index.html and use photoshop to enhance them. I remember getting GBA Rayman sprites which looked terrible, because of the bright colours and the horrible flesh tone, so I darkened it to make it look as good as the ones on the PSX. I could adjust them if you want?
Also, maybe the islands should be like this:
Mokriki Island (Tutorial Island)
-"Wise Guy's" hut (sword/training/later story)
-Link's hut (recover health)
-Shop (get items)
-The Port (get the boat)
Frosty Jungle (First Recipe)
Crumble Castle (Second recipe)
The Sonnige Woestyn (Desert Island- find the first triforce to open up new area of sea)
Murderous Mountains (Third Recipe)
we'll see how it goes...
Basically, Mokriki Island I thought could be a tropical island, with a few but not too crowded number of palm trees, what do you think the first level should be?
FINALLY should I change the enemy to a unique person/creature, or leave it as Ganon because I think to make this more unique we might as well have a different enemy.
I was thinking of a frog called Grolig, because the good thing about it is we don't have to make it conflict with previous stories. If Ganon already has a past, then we'll be restricted to storyline, but if we have our own enemy than we can make the story however we want it.
Here's the edited introduction: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Borrego6165/2325483

I think we need at least 1 more programmer and a spriter to join this group, but ill do what I can. just so were clear the walking top down view in overworld will scroll right? i started with the scripts yesterday and Im having trouble with collision but ill eventually I figure it out.

yeah- it WILL scroll! if you agree with me, then it'll be an island, with trees and stuff. I'm good at art, as you can see from the intro so I'll do some sprites. I suggest that:
All Link sprites, and famous character sprites from that sprite website place
I'll do top-down scenery and buildings if you like
All you need to do is get the scripts from the website and program them.
I'll do anything 3D
Offline
scripts from website????????? do you mean sprites? ok, I can do the scenery but my only problem is that I need animated link sprites. the site provides images which has each frame with the pose
for example
link
link lift foot up- link lift foot down.
so if i wanted to animate that id make 2 costumes and one id erase link lift foot down
and for second costume move link lift foot down to link lift foot up postion.
and that wood create the animation sprite
so basically what im saying is I need animated sprite of link and not a sprite sheet.
on second thought could you just do a basic draw out of tutorial island

boreego, your into 3D animation and gamemaking right, have you heard of blender.? its a great somewhat simple animating and gamemaking. you should try it its way better then scratch.
i got it quite a while back! but i couldn't work anything out. Also, for the Link sprite sheet you divide it into separate images, http://www.spriters-resource.com/nes/thelegendofzelda/sheet/8366 and I think there should be enough there to animate. maybe we should do a collab on blender instead of scratch, that way you could help teach me stuff about it along the way.
