This. I have still not played Minecraft yet, but it is educational.

I think that's more of a thing for you personally than a general problem with MC.

In general, Minecraft might be addicting so I'd blame his/her addiction on both MC and him/her-self.

@Magnie, good point. Plus, many people have used MC in school for educational purposes, so I don't know why my mom won't let me get it.

Does she know you can use it for educational purposes? Maybe find some examples (like youtube videos) that you can show her.

Such as the blog that cheddar posted.

Well, I'm going to show my mom the finished report, & the resources I have.

Yea, It has educational parts followed by some not-really-educational parts.

You can make almost anything, therefore making it a possible school tool!
My brother built most of Italy, and I built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the pyramids in Egypt for a school project.  big_smile

No, it doesn't include punching trees.

But it does involve trying to go meters into the ground in a matter of a day with stuff made of wood?

But a day is a lot longer in real life than in MC, so you'd have the time.

It also takes longer to build a hole.

Minecraft is very good for building creativity, but you can easily get carried away with it. It can really affect your grades and school work.

Minetest is a bit of a different idea, has a smaller community, and doesn't have really any server mods, so there's no protection from grief. It also doesn't have a lot of the mobs or features Minecraft does.

There are mods, and there is protection from grief.

I agree there are less mobs, and slightly less features, but many servers have mods that make up for that... and yea, I just can't waste $30 or whatever it is on a game  tongue
