1) beta versions of software are always risky. Don't download the beta version unless you are willing to take the risk.
2) all the programs I tried with the beta version 1.2 worked, with the exception of a few small bugs that I reported to the developers. Perhaps something else is going on with your system?
3) "bugged up every project" does not provide enough information for a developer to try figure out what is broken. When reporting bugs, please be very detailed and precise: "in project ..., when I hit the green flag, instead of doing ..., it does ... ".
It is very common for people (on this forum and elsewhere) to ask for help and report bugs very vaguely (basically saying that something doesn't work, without describing what it should do it if did work and what it does instead). Programmers are not mind readers. The problem you are seeing may not be one that anyone else sees, so describe it throughly.

Sorry about that Megaboy. I'd recommend going back to the stable version 1.1. The beta version 1.2 has bugs and we released it so people could help us test it and find bugs. If you want to go back to version 1.1, you can do this: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=10579#p10579

I had no problem opening and running v1.1 scratch programs with the v1.2 beta release on my Mac. It was one of the first things I tried.
Can you give more details of exactly what you do, so that someone else can try to duplicate the bug?
