i was just tipped off to this site~ now im wondering some things xD

Is it possible to create a desktop pet someone can download from anywhere? Does a scratch game/ character have to be used in a scratch application? or can you open like a program with its own graphic interface....

Also what if you want to feed it? Let it level up?

what are the limits of scratch?

A desktop pet? What's that? Is that like a virtual pet? If so, then yes. You can do practically anything with Scratch. And yes, it can be downloaded but only from the Scratch website.
I'm a little confused with your next question - can you please clarify?
As for the limits of Scratch: Do you mean the size of the project? Or how much you can do with the Scratch program?

well hello,welcome to scratch! A desktop pet? Ya' mean a virtual pet? well yes if that's what you mean. And to level up In games you basicly use the broadcast and when i recieve blocks. heres an example:
when i recieve start game
foreverif touching sprite11
broadcast level 2

and

(this is for backgrounds btw)
when i recieve level 2
switch to background 3
