Yeah, when I do my homework for Chinese I used have a dictionary next to me constantly, now I just use Google Translate. It's not that I don't know what the words mean, it's just I either can't read them or I don't know how to write them.

Doesn't your teacher have you take notes or give you a word bank?
If you have an iPad, you can set it to type in Chinese pinyin if you need to type your homework.

Yeah, I hate that too. Seems sexist.
It does seem it, but when you delve deeper you realise it's completely random.
Like the word beard. That's feminine. ._.
There are some mysteries that'll never be solved, and that's one of them

In German, words can be feminine, masculine AND neuter!
and it's really funny and confusing if you say e.g. DIE Sonne (feminine), but in french you say LE soleil (masculine) and in English it's the sun (neither feminine nor masculine!)

Kind of, yeah, but in English there are no feminine or masculine terms. Just neutral.
Also, if you're experiencing problems with English, try Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. They tell you if you spell something wrong

I take Chinese in school. A kid I sit next to is always complaining about how bad the class is, but I find it really enjoyable. So I know what you mean.
