So hear me out right now: If you could make sprites of any size there would be no need for complicated scrolling techniques or multiple "Terrains" as sprites. Simple enough, right?

You can already do that. Right click the stage and select "grab screen region for new sprite" or "grab screen region for new costume". Then, select an area (it can be greater than 360x480. Then, edit the costume to whatever you intended to have.

You still wouldn't be able to have sprites bigger than the computer's screen though, which probably wouldn't be enough if you wanted to make a long scroller

Why Not? I can make sprites bigger than the screen in "Paint" program. Why should scratch be a limit?

Cool, I'll try that.

Because the way Lucario said to do it (which is the only way currently known) doesn't allow costumes bigger than the computer screen.

I know, I meant, why should we not be able to make bigger sprites? I know why it wouldn't work with the grab screen region, but we should be allowed to make bigger sprites.

How?

I think if you shift-click on something in the paint program on SCRATCH, it will allow you to change the size.

I tried that, but now I can't import images, it still shrinks them down to 480x360. Is there a way to import an image and make it bigger?
