Wrapping Paper Creations!

It was my birthday last week and I have a bunch of wrapping paper that I kept. I need to get rid of it but I don't want to throw it out. I'm making things with it! I've already made a pencil holder and a picture frame. What craft projects have you done that involve wrapping paper? I'm not into collage-type thingamobobs.

Re: Wrapping Paper Creations!

I usually do origami. Most wrapping paper is delicate enough for folding-paper projects.  smile

Other times I save the wrapping paper to wrap up other presents in the future if the paper is still clean, not very torn, and useable.  smile

Re: Wrapping Paper Creations!

I have a drawer full of wrapping paper because I collect shot glasses. Did you know the National Security Agency sells shot glasses?

Well, that's a very broad question. Origami, or pencil holders, or picture frames?

What TYPE of origami would you like to learn? Anything specific? I can teach you a hat, a boat and a swan. I am learning more as I go.

I make picture frames by cutting out the shape of the frame, then drawing around it onto a separate piece of card and cutting that out. One should be a frame, and another a backing card. Put the backing card aside, then start cutting strips of wrapping paper. they have to be big enough to wrap around a side of your picture frame. Don't worry about the corners, we can cover them afterwards. As long as what's going to be the front of the frame looks okay, it doesn't matter about the back.wrap the strip around one side of the frame diagonally. Repeat on all four sides. Then just cover the corners with scraps.
Decorate with whatever arty doodads you fancy. I like to keep it simple.

As for a pencil pot, pretty easy, I just got a little cardboard box I had lying around, and covered it in the paper, then decorated it to match the frame. I then put PENCILS in it. You are shocked.

I will post pictures ASAP.
