Okay yeah I banged out some [removed] story in a few hours to send away to a magazine
It was mostly for a money
The story really sucks and has no plot and it would be embarrassing if anyone else read it
I didn't expect it to get in, but I did
And if I let it get published I get money
But I don't want anyone reading the worst thing I've ever written... so...

If you get money for it, then what's the problem?

Let them. If they let it into the magazine, then it must be because it really is good.

I can't decide
My mom would be really mad if I didn't publish it because she's more excited about this than I am
It's like $40 not that much

You could just ask for them to not publish your name with it.

The readers won't know it's your worst story. They'll probably like it and you'll have no reason to complain.
If you want to, use a pseudonym, as others have said.

I'd take the money in a heartbeat, free cash, how could you turn that down?

@Pluto: true...
Hmmm....
Well, I mean 40 bucks isn't really that much. Is it the sort of thing where if you sent another one in, it would probably be picked as well, or was this a rare thing?
If you think it's unlikely they'll pick you a second time then I guess it's worth a little embarrassment.
And hey, I think if a magazine actually is willing to invest in it, it's probably pretty good anyway. :p

You are a professional if you get paid, woman.
Go for it under a pseudonym.
