How would you kill off . . .

How would you kill off an ancient society that was very clean and used an abundance of soap to gain wealth through trade?

(They were generally unintelligent, if it helps)

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

They start to worship rocks and the soap gods kill them by drowning them in a bubble bath~

Realistically!
(The religion they follow can't be proven, not that they actually worshiped the soap)

I need to be able to explain the cause realistically but over-the-top-ish in a textbook-style format.
