I would like to make a game in scratch, unfortunately the backgrounds that I would like for the game are far too extensive to be held in a 480X360 pixel space and would therefore just look childish. My question is this,
Is it Possible, to make the stage/backgrounds bigger so that more complex scenarios can be made? Or is this the limit that Scratch has, because if it is, I would be highly disappointed.

yes this is the limit although there are some possible solutions:
1. see if someone could make a scratch mos with a larger stage
2. use scrolling
3. scale it down using GIMP

A) How do I use scrolling
B) Scaling something down would lost the quality
C) What's a Scratch MOS?

I believe they meant mod instead of mos, a mod is a modified version of to the program.
The basics to scrolling can be found here: http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Scrolling , a good way to learn scrolling is to use those basics, play around with it to become comfortable with the scripts, then adapt it to suit your needs.

Ah. Thank you. Would you be able to recommend any mods?
