Im writing an adventure fantasy, the main character, Achcuahtli, is trying to return to a city, but the path is blocked by a boulder, I'm trying to come up with a way for them to get the boulder out of the way? How wold u resolve this?

Climb the boulder.
Go around it.
Use a lever and lever it out of the way.

Parkour it out baby, that ALWAYS works.

explosives solve all problems
EDIT: this is a pretty simple obstacle, don't make him go way out of his way to get around it

The story is set in the Copper Age, WAY before there were explosives.

magic never existed
if you can have magic my friend
you can have explosives

i know but i already laid down the rules of magic, which i believe i could use to move the boulder somehow. I have considered Tlaloc creating a chasm, but then the characters would fall in. And the culture the story is set in is based of the Aztecs, so explosives would make them seem too high tech.

Them falling in would be great!
"TLALOC YOU IDIOT!"

First, make the names pronounceable by humans.
Second, have all the Aztecs started to worship soap yet, like I told you to make them?
If so, he lubes up the rock with soap and it is now easy to slide!
If not, make a gigantic side quest that consumes more than half the book in search for somebody they've been told can move it.

let me see your logic
magical explosion: too high tech
magically creating a cavern to drop the boulders: makes sense

He's assuming all explosions are made with modern methods such as C4, gunpowder, etc.

I like the part where the fall in, so i'll add that part and they have to use their wits to get out. But im not spending half the book on an unnecessary side quest. The story is about Achcuahtli searching for his father's soul stolen by the death god. And the names are supposed to be alien sounding because its Nahuatl (Aztec)

It would be so much easier just to have them blow the boulder up with magic, man.
