It was in 1.8, but it's just that the height is one variable now. You need a mod to make it work.

HELP!!! D: I am freaking out. I created a creative mode Flatcity, and I've been working on it for about... maybe almost one month. I had a huge city, tons of houses, I was planning on creating a whole city and story and stuff, and today I was testing something and by doing so accidentally fell beneath bedrock (The void, am I correct?) and DIED. D: I didn't know you could DIE in creative. I clicked respawn and it said, "Your homebed was obstructed." I looked around, and my entire kingdom was gone! D: What happened, and can I get it back? sad

Look around, in flatmaps you get a new spawn each time you die, so you've been spawned away from the city.

My opinions on the new update:

New jungle mob (small, fast cheetah-like thing): Awesome, I want one!
Skeletons have new AI and a few new behaviours (Hides from sunlight): That sounds cool, like skeletons heading into caves at night.
Various minor bug fixes and changes: Bleh
Added an experience item to creative mode: omgomgomogmgomgomgogmogmomg
Added a flame item…: So it's basically a flint and steel that lasts forever? Huh?
Updated language files: I won't be happy 'til you add Elvish and Kling-On. >:C
