I mean, really!

And if you don't agree with me,
You could have a chance to show off your true talents (don't be snobbish, though), rather than posting on forums or chatting in a virtual chat room all day.

That's hardly fair, is it?

I bet you most of the people on Scratch have a talent in IT or programming. And now you're telling them "Hey, Even though IT is technically Science, if you're good at it, Sorry, but I have to say, IT'S NOT A SKILL"

Next paragraph is what I think you're saying.

I mean, to be completely fair, If you're telling people "Hey, get a life. Stop playing on your computer" and you don't want the bill to pass, who's to protest it?

Finally, Scratch is a place where people learn. In the UK, around 1/5 of schools DON'T teach IT to an adequate level. That's 1/5th of the UK. Out of a school of 212, only I have shown a bright spot in IT, according to my report. That's 0.47% of a school.

Also, don't we hear "Use your gifts, don't let them go to waste"? Well, you're basically telling people gifted with the knowledge of IT to let their skills go to waste.

Thankyou. I don't want this to be flame-bait, it was just intended to shout at the annoying people who keep ranting ON and ON about this.

Books are limited. The internet is a place of creativity, that links the world together. And how does Scratch not educate? Scratch is taught in Secondary Schools across the world.

Yes, books can educate you, I agree 100%. But forums can give you ethical, argumentative, reading, writing and IT skills.

Yes, people do spend too much time on computers (even me, I spend WAAAAAY too much time on here), but SOPA/PIPA/ACTA would do absolutely NOTHING to change that, just make people mad. Those bills aren't even good at their primary purpose (stopping piracy).

Re: Look

If SOPA/PIPA does get through, most likely Anonymous will have an online war with the government (Anonymous are a hacker group whose belief is that the Internet and speech should always be free), that will end up completely destroying the Internet. Most likely, Anonymous will win (due to the fact that they are everywhere, and will have more public backing than the US government if the bills get through), the the US will begin to find and arrest Anonymous members. At this point, the Internet will become chaotic, will several hacker groups trying to fill the power vacuum created. And then we will all get free cheesecake every Friday, except in November, as that's when the dancing grapes will sacrifice their pumpkins to the high god Sparta!

Look, as I've proven, my talent seems to be a weird and random twist in my stories XD but seriously, loads of people can balance their computer and social life.

Though people would probably create a new, alternate internet.

I was thinking that you should get a hardrive from the dollar store and download the entire internet on to it, then reupload it and become famous like Bill Gates and get millions of dollars because everyone will go to your new internet.

That's gonna take a lot more than just one hard drive.

I believe it's the responsibility of the person to take it upon himself/herself to use the internet computer as a positive tool. If a person find it a waste of time, then it's his/her responsibility to get off instead of trying to justify a bill like SOPA/PIPA to get people off the computer.

The same can be said of things like watching TV, or obtaining books. A lot of people don't like the idea of people watching TV too much, and some people bring up the point that staying in and reading all day to an extreme without supplementing it with real life experience is also bad.

Applying the same concept of the SOPA/PIPA bills to the examples I put up above - cutting off TV channels because of questionable content put on some TV shows is not justifiable because it also cuts people from watching informational shows like the news. Preventing people from obtaining on books because of questionable content in some of them is analogized in the same manner. Either example will probably stop people from watching the TV or stop people from being to secluded in reading, but such as reason justifiable.

TL;DR we shouldn't be stuck by today's media for entertainment. But never should that reason be used to justify our inability access to it. I think most people will agree that this is many are so extremely angry when you mentioned how the possible results of SOPA/PIPA is a positive light; it is as if it made in ignorance of the terrible consequences of such censorship.
