I have never cried at any fictional death or sad thing and etc. Because I am actually capable of separating feelings for people from people in books. I do, however, have a heart, unlike some have suggested.

Nothing fictional makes me sad, I literally didn't even shed a tear at the end of where the red fern grows when we read it in fifth grade.

SPOILER ALERT!
I don't usually cry, but I get very sad and upset when my favorite character in a book dies. The saddest fav-character death I can think of is Felldoh's in Martin the Warrior.

An article in TIME about a girl who was abused by in-laws and then tortured for running away from her home by the Taliban.
As opposed to an episode of Adventure Time ;_;

I'm saying that's the saddest thing I've read, but I'll check that one out.

For me, it would be a movie called "Grave of the Fireflies", it's based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Akiyuki Nosaka, who wrote it after the death of his sister in 1945.

A story I read about a small dog being snatched by a hawk and never seen again.
Somebody OWNED it ;_; And I own a small dog ;_;

WHERE THE RED FERN GROWS:
Forumers please.
That is the consensus among EVERYONE who has read that book.

I once read an MLP fanfic one-shot on FIMFiction that involved Scootaloo mourning over Rainbow Dash's grave after a horrible flying accident. That brought tears to my eyes.
Also, I saw a picture of an elephant mourning the death of another elephant. It was so sad, since I love elephants more than anything.

To me, Scootaloo dying is worse than Rainbow Dash.
