If only Facebook would go down... I thought it was but then it wasn't.
All the people wid no lives on facbook would go crazy without facebook, wonder where it went, see SOPA and PIPA, realize it could take away their facebook, and take away their lives, and do something

People found this being announced on Wikipedia (The blackout) I explained and the all they cared about is if they could update their hot status on Facebook, yo.

No - but you can if you want. We're going to be using the three Featured Project slots to show off some SOPA and/or PIPA projects, plus there are some in Top Remixd and some of the other front page categories. So there should be a fair amount of visibility.

Announcement
The Scratch Team opposes SOPA and PIPA
are you going to put one up on the main site?

Moderator note: Originally a separate topic labeled "SOPA and PIPA message on Scratch"
Anyone else found it a bit boring? It reminded me of this:

Aren't we going to have a new logo or anything for the day?

I think it's okay. It's better than nothing at least.

I created a fake SOPA censored project here, please love it so it can get onto the front page.
Nice and cool sig.
.i.Thanks. BTW, do you think the 12 sprites and 95 scripts was overkill? I don't know so.
CURSE YOU 60 SECOND RULE!
Nah, I don't think so. Those who are not aware of the SOPA or PIPA bill won't know, hopefully a fake censor will be enough to spike their curiosity. I did something similar (yep, my anti-SOPA project is up now).
I added a love-it to yours, I'm trying to fave a bunch of them so they all appear on my favorites for the time being (I would have gone into all my projects and put a temporary sprite so all the thumbnails would show the censor symbol, but that takes a lot of time and the website takes a few days to update the thumbnail images. Phooey.). I'm hoping that enough other anti-SOPA or anti-PIPA project manages to fulfill the criteria of the front page (the more, the better).

I honestly think that the protest here was pretty weak.
Fist of all, the only big announcement against SOPA/PIPA is on the forums. That's not really affective. It should be on the main page too.
You should've done something similar to the hurricane page, but with a button to go to the actual site (just so that little kiddies don't dry).
And seriously? Only featured has projects? (Well, To Remixed has one, so people were aware beforehand) You should've made everything on the home page redirect you to an official SOPA/PIPA project which builds upon the hurricane page-style message.
Also, maybe you should put a message telling children to contact their local senator to say "NO" to SOPA/PIPA.
It honestly feels like the ST just did this out of mass suggestion and didn't really want to do it.
(PS: I've also changed my signature, something I practically never do)

Scratch isn't really amazingly well known, even if it did shut down or whatever then it'd have like 0.003% of a say, if MIT did something about it then it'd probably be 8%, MIT is a huge company.
