Today is the Day

In less than 18 hours, the internet will black out to protest SOPA and POROTECT-IP.

The problem is, it doesn't seem like the ST has jumped on the bandwagon yet. Sure, they said they'd heavily consider it, but there seems to be no signs of blackout notifications. No custom banners. No messages. Is it that you guys aren't going to do it, or just not publicly announcing it?

Either way, it's happening. Prepare yourselves for a burst of justice on behalf of the international nation.

Is this just like America or will other places be given the same laws on piracy now?

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

It only affects people in the States.

Lightnin said they'll put up their message banner, and feature SOPA projects.

Re: Today is the Day

in holland they havew something similar, but the way of blocking those sites - blocking DNS translations - can completely block every server in the USA, not only for accessing inside the USA. servers in europe can't be blocked for people outside the USA, though (and inside the USA, they can still use TOR or proxies)

They are. Lightnin told us we're featuring projects going against SOPA, creating banners, etc.

I believe there are a few things in the works.  Last I heard, the site will not be shutting down...but there will be some awareness-raising efforts.

Re: Today is the Day

Whoever has a project that they want to make look like it has been censored, I made an image that looks like the one most people have been using, but this one says "THIS PROJECT" instead of "THIS IMAGE" and it is the perfect size for a scratch project.

Here it is

Also whoever wants to use my sig is welcome, thats why I made it.

"Congressional leaders are preparing to shelve controversial legislation aimed at tackling online piracy after president Barack Obama said he would not support it."
-The Guardian

"But both bills now look severely damaged after the White House came out firmly against their biggest proposals at the weekend. "
-The Guardian

"The  White House said it would not support legislation that "reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risks or undermines the dynamic, innovative global internet."

The White House is against it.

When I saw the title I thought:

"...Today's the day the teddy bears go on their picnic."

Still, what time will this take place?
