I suppose it's possible to have life-forms of that nature undiscovered somewhere, but I doubt that their contextual significance would be true, i.e. mannerisms, magical properties, etc.

They're real
I saw one in my friend's grandmother's garden, though it wasn't moving all that much

Harry Potter reference?
I don't think she's read them, actually.

I believe in the Crocoduck.
Not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens.

Gnomes are real!
We have one that used to move around the house
We never saw it move though
(It totally wasn't my brother and sister playing this bizarre find-the-gnome game!)

Mythical creatures really could be real. they really could. I don't think that it's the least bit babyish to think that there once were animals that don't exist anymore or that changed somehow or that we haven't rediscovered.
I also think that it's possible that the first time someone saw an eagle he thought it had paws and called it a gryphon.
The cyclopes stories were completely made up by an explorer who found an elephat skull and thought that the trunk socket was for a single large eye.
I think that some animals existed, and that some could be alive still, and that some like the cyclopes was completely made up.
