I think it should stay. Most of you have weak comments.
Reasons:
1. No one says it can't be used for what it is currently being used for.
2.Trolling won't stop.
3.It is a convenient place for scratchers to post how they feel and to become friends (Bad part: or enemies)
4.There are very few actual useless posts. Posts such as "What did you get for X-mas" have a purpose. The purpose is to get to know scratchers better.
5. If miscellaneous were to be deleted, the posts that don't fit anywhere else, will be homeless. LOL

If misc. stays then the forums would be hoboless

@5, no, because those posts wouldn't be part of Scratch in the first place.

That's the point, Scratch isn't an online community. Scratch is a programming language. You don't see people on the PHP forums discussing Christmas gifts, do you? Or the Java forums?
No. I agree with Magnie. Stricter guidelines should be put into place. Another thing is that I think they should disable post counts for Misc, as in if you post in Misc, your post count doesn't increase. Many people see it in their head to get a high post count. Since Misc is very loosely ruled, they post and post there. Thus, creating our mountain of useless topics.Read the last sentence of this post. I underlined it for you.
Maybe the problems with Misc. could be fixed when we get more Moderators from the election in March. It would be hard to incorporate some post count system like that. If that was in the Forums, there might be lots of glitches, causing you to not gain posts for posting in other forums.
Deleting Misc. will NOT stop trolling, and may cause other Forums to go offtopic. NO FORUM is complete without a Misc. Forum. So very true. ^^
No. Programming it so that Misc posts don't count to your post count, wouldn't be glitchy nor would it be hard.

But what you fail to realize,is that people need an output for emotion, other then the real world, because in the real world, people aren't as afraid to post their feelings online. Now,sure they may have other outputs but some don't and Scratch has a lot of members to express their feelings. Now as for you who disagree, this is true, and what you need to realize this.

We-ell...
I don't know if it would be the best idea to get rid of it altogether, but cleaning it up would be good.

I believe that instead of deleting it, better/more guidelines should be put in place. I think that instead of just posting stuff here, it should be related to Scratch, programming, or something related to technology and education.
I think people (and moderators) should realize that Misc isn't a place for topics not related to Scratch ( in any shape or form ) should be posted here. Topics should have at least a point to them. Games don't have any point to them, just their for entertainment and there is no learning involved.
In general, I think that Misc should be used for Miscellaneous topics, not "Everything Else". By that I mean that instead of useless topics, as an example "What did you get for Christmas?". It has absolutely nothing to do with Scratch or even the virtual world. It doesn't even have a huge meaning in the Real World. You got a new toy, how cool! is a little useless, as it doesn't provide any help or useful information ( except for stalkers ).
So lets just create topics with an actual meaning instead of just deleting Misc in general. If you want to chat about a specific topic ( "What did you get for Christmas?" ) how about doing it somewhere dedicated to that topic or on an "anything goes here!" forum.
This. And plus, if Misc. gets deleted WindozeNT Software (and to an extent, PodTricks) won't get any customers since it's main database is in Misc.
EDIT: Let's especially ban those "Like my signature?" threads. Seriously, I DON'T CARE about your signature even IF it is flashy and has flying kittens all over it. -_-

I disagree, there would be no place to chat for fun in the forums, I know that you enjoy the misc.
Anyway you can report the post if there is a problem.Actually, no chatrooms allowed.
Fine, discuss.

Few things to say. First off, this is the whole reason for Misc. It gives users a place to post if it doesn't belong anywhere else. If you think it needs to be taken down because of useless posts, then all scratch needs is more moderators. Also, you may not see anyone talking about Christmas presents on the php forums because none of them are kids. Scratch is the only friendly comunity of kids. The reason so many people post in misc. Is because they are all just like each other. We're all probably around the same age, and all love programming. I've made severa friends on scratch because of the misc. Forums. It gives me a place to go when I'm bored, or feel alone, and I'm sure other scratchers come here when they feel angry, or sad. There's just somthing about scratchers that are different from other forums. If the scratch misc. does go down, I may make my own forum for scratchers only, for them to post when they're bored, mad, sad, happy, or they want to just share with the world. If you think that the misc is getting out of controll, then maybe all it needs are more moderators.
Repost this post if you agree

Ok, so, I think misc should stay, but I think that once (if) the scratchBB forum is made (see the Advanced Topics forum), then all this sort of discussion should be encouraged there, as I see that that would be more of a community who has a similar interest (scratch), than a group of programmers talking about programmer-related stuff, though it would obviously still have some scratch-related discussion in it. Just my two-pence.

Ok, people. Misc. will probably never be deleted. Scratch is an online community and a programming language. If Misc. gets deleted because of you, it will cause a MAJOR riot. So, if you don't like Misc. don't post here. It's that simple.

Also everyone claimed their post counts would be decremented with the removal of Miscellaneous and that is just simply not true. You'd retain your post count, just like how it is with deleted posts. And the posts would even still be there.

I have never liked misc. I don't think it should be deleted, I do think it should be moved away like the tbg forums. THAT was a real problem.

I disagree.
The scratch forums, although a community, is a programming community.
If you need to express your depression, or your real life emotions, call a kid help line, where people will talk to you all you need.
Our community was nicely bounded back in 2008 when I joined. Even in 2009, we were well connected. Now,I don't know...

You're just trying to act like 2008 and 2009 were the way the place was meant to be.
In reality the site just wasn't largely known then.

This is now a Spiderman thread.
Lolno.
This thread is pretty much dead. Why necropost this back to the top?
I have a strage theory that this is going to devolve into a crocoduck vs. platypus argument for some strange reason. It wouldn't make sense at to why, though.
Anyway, back to necroposting.
