A series of 3 books.
It's actually called a Trilogy.

I was really excited to read the first book, and got halfway through-ish, but my sister was all like YOU CAN'T READ THE ARENA PART BY YOURSELF! IT'S TOO DISTURBING! (Because apparently her reading it aloud will make it less disturbing. Plus we don't have a copy of the book at home, I was borrowing a teacher's classroom copy at school)
What I did read was a little disappointing in terms of how I liked it
Sure they're going to be pitted against each other in a gory arena of death--but first, let's showcase them like superstars!

Which is a series of three books.
I've read the first one and now I'm reading the last one.

Yay! Somebody made a topic about this!
I read all of the books. My favorite one was Catching Fire, my second favorite one was The Hunger Games, and my least favorite one was Mockingjay.

I really liked the first book, I think it said a lot about war and its effect on children, and a bunch of other stuff, also it was a fine example of a microcosm, but I don't much like the other two because they lose their sense of meaning. I feel that they become way too centralized around the individual drama of the main character.

I have hope for the movie. I feel like they really are focusing on the messages this time.
Then again, I had hope for City of Ember...

I don't see how a school can endorse reading this book in class but ok

Great book series, but didn't really like the ending

They are the best book series I've ever read, except perhaps the Gone series.
I can't wait for the movie which I believe is about 73 days away.

Lol, Joanna's awesome.
My favourite quote from the book is:
"I'm alive" -Katniss
Then Joanna replied
"No kidding, brainless"
