Science projects

I'm also taking a class that starts with magnetism, electricity, etc.

For a project, we must build something with a circuit that has a switch.

I'm building an Aperture Science Sentry Turret out of cardboard, paint, and duct tape.

Its eye will light up when the switch is connecting the circuit.

Also, does anyone know a cheap/free way to get some sounds on the turret as well, so if I pressed a button it would say 'hello'?

Re: Science projects

You would need a special chip so no.
I also suggest making the eye a laserpointer hard wired in.  wink

I don't have a red laserpointer, but I'll see if I can get a little flashlight or something like that and then I'd just put red tissue paper over it and it'd just be fine.

I haven't even been assigned this yet. My teacher just was explaining it to us today. And we got to watch steel wool burn.  big_smile

And now I doodle Turrets in my spare time xD

You buy one for like 2 bucks and it is a straight red line just like the turrets so that is why I suggest it.  smile
Good luck!

Wal-mart tiiime~

But then what would be the rest of the red eye?
oh yeah, the red paper thing. xD

Also for the sound, I could just use a tape recorder  tongue

The hardest part is finding the cardboard and painting it. .3.

Re: Science projects

Bring a Mac to school, hide it somewhere, turn on the "Announce the Time" feature.

Voila, you now have a turret that says, "ISITNICETOHAVEACOMPUTERTHATTALKSTOYOU?"

My bio teacher told us she met him at some teachers' conference or something and he's actually mean. Like he's all stuck up and snooty because of where he is and the fact that everybody knows him.

Sounds awesome.  smile

A toy voice recorder. One that uses a button, of course.  big_smile

You can probably buy them fairly cheaply over the Internet. Otherwise, go to your local toy store for a toy that has recording capabilities and use that instead.  smile

That's the frst thing I'm going after. it has to be able to open up and see the circuit, so I'm going to have it set up so that one of the guns lifts up and you can see the circuit inside.

(the 'guns' will probably be TP tubes, knowing me  tongue )

@cheddargirl: I might be going to Walmart sometime soon so I'll see if I can get some paint and the recorder there.  big_smile

Cool.  smile

Show us a pic when you're finished with it. I think most people would agree with me when I say that I want to see the turret when it's done.  big_smile

I'll probably take the pic outside....
Because who DOESN'T want to see an adorable turret in the snow?

Turret in the snow, erectin' a demosnowman, whilst protecting the fort from zombies and aliens that take over human cities with the help of 2 mute 'lunatics', one with a tool of science and another with a tool of awesomeness.~

There are so many VALVe references in that it's not funny.

Turret + tool of science = Portal/Portal 2
Zombies = L4D
Aliens + Tool of awesomeness = Half-Life
erectin' + fort + demosnowman = TF2

Actually, you can probably make it shiny if you use the right paint. Just get one with really high gloss.  big_smile
