A lie. It can't be the truth without contradicting itself (and therefore being a lie), but some of my statements can be lies, and this is one of those statements.

Re: Riddle.

But if it was a lie, then your saying that everything you say is true, which is a lie, which means everything you say is true...

So try to find the right answer to a riddle before you ask us. Or at least before you say the answer.

Re: Riddle.

The answer is you are lying.  It is not a paradox.  I do believe this may spiral into a TBG.

Re: Riddle.

you are lying about the 'everything' part, meaning the true statement would be "you only lie sometimes", which means it was a lie and still makes sense ^^

Let's see.

Situation 1: He is telling the truth.

He says: Everything I say is a lie.

Since that statement is true, then everything he says must be a lie.

Everything includes that statement. So he is saying that statement is a lie. And since he lied, he cannot be telling the truth. This does not work.

(I know you don't say true, but some people do.)

Situation 2: He is lying.

He says: Everything I say is a lie.

Since that statement is false, then everything he says must not be a lie.

Everything includes that statement. So he is saying that his statement must be true (if you are lying about yourself lying, you actually told the truth). And since he told the truth, he cannot be lying. This does not work.

Situation 3: It is a paradox.

Say he is telling the truth. He is lying then. (Sit. 1) And if he's lying, he's telling the truth (Sit. 2). Then lie, then truth, then lie, then truth, etc.

You could start with him lying and get the same answer.

And since he is not telling the truth or lying (or telling the truth and lying), it turns out to be a paradox.

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

isn't it truth because if everything you say is a lie, then you saying it's a lie is a lie too, right?

That's always how they kill robots in Star Trek; confuse them with a paradox, then they explode  tongue
