also, since when is a sandbox game ever supposed to offer anything new? its a sandbox game. you build. it wont change.
also, would you please give me an example of the game mentioned at the bottom of the post?
btw i dont like the attitude of this post. i thought we could have a calm and orderly debate

Hey, don't hate what you don't know.  And even if you could play Classic, that's like centuries outdated.  It's boring.  Not even close to MC.

I don't hate MineCraft, I hate the fanboys. Which is the reason I'm in that 5%. You people will never make me play MC though. (I hate playing games on the computer) Acually, I just hate fanboys of anything. Mostly the Sonic and Spyro ones.

I used to think so too, until I actually PLAYED it. I got addicted, it's a really fun game.

I'm not a huge fan of it either but I know for a fact that it does not control 95% of kids. Maybe 30%.

This. Although lots of people I know have heard of it, close to none play it and nobody I know is 'controlled' by it. I just use it as a timekiller during hours I've grown bored of other things.

In my opinion I find minecraft pretty boring, but that's probably because I like the adventuring side of games and fighting monsters or building a defensible fort against hordes of monsters, however the monster AI in minecraft isn't really that good and neither is the combat mechanics, so I can't really do any those things

You know, this was a very rude post.  Nothing new?  Excuse me, have you seen how many updates MC has had in it's history?  If not, click here to see.
And Minecraft is a sandbox game.  So if you get bored playing one way, you can start playing totally differently and UN-BORING YOURSELF.

Minecraft was based of Infiminer, Notch used to work on Wurm online and he took some ideas from that with him to build this new game. He saw that everyone else was making the game wrong, and saw the way how to make it right, he built minecraft with an idea in mind of a game which nobody's fully made yet. Anyone else who made a game like it only really ever got to the creative, minecraft has 170+ crafting recipes and 300+ items, minecraft isn't purely original, but most games aren't.
