Best Sub-Genre of Metal?

What do you think is the best sub-genre of metal, considering how many varying kinds there are? I prefer more melodic sub-genres, I'm not really used to kinds with screaming/groaning vocals and screeching guitar riffs.

I like glam metal...and hard rock bands such as Boston and Foreigner.

What about you?

Re: Best Sub-Genre of Metal?

Pop/glam/hair. Death starts to sound sort of like just a dull roar if you listen for too long, but some of them are ok.

Re: Best Sub-Genre of Metal?

Alternative metal, folk metal or Viking metal.
Oh, and is screamo a type of metal? Because I'm really into that as well.

Smoking? Uhh, I don't listen to much rock or metal or whatever it's called. I was thinking that The White Stripes were metal or rock.

The White Stripes are rock, but not metal. If you want metal listen to Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath.

That's the stuff my dad liked. When I say liked I mean my mum confiscating all his metal-related stuff so he could focus on my siblings and me.

Some of their songs are kinda metal-ish, I guess. Elephant is mostly metal.

I'd say that the heaviest that The White Stripes get is hard rock. None of their songs are metal, in my opinion.

No. Just no.

Learn about metal before you say something like that.

Power, Melodic, and Heavy.

You know, when the lyrics are about distant lands or battles of old, keyboards are very heavily used...that sort of thing.

Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, Closer To God, The Downward Spiral, Further Down The Spiral, The Perfect Drug, The Fragile, And All That Could Have Been, With Teeth, Year Zero, Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, Ghosts I-IV, The Slip, Pretty Hate Machine 2010

you can "hate" whatever you want
i like it when im listening to bands who can actually play instruments
and when the vocalist can actually sing, and sing well
and i prefer the heavier/faster stuff

They're some of the reasons I like metal, too. As well as the fact that metal bands write their own songs. Being a pop star should be easy, because you get your songs written for you, and they can just autotune your voice. The only thing you need is good looks, really.

I could suggest a band:
Dream Theater.

God they're amazing.

Some of their earlier albums fit what you want.

I also don't mind late 60's metal bands such as Deep Purple.

Lamb of god are cool. I also listened to "Zombies ate my pony" which is more of a PMV.
