Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

There is no private messaging on Scratch (sadly). I would like the flash files (fla) once you finish them, and you could probably host them on a website (does LIFE have one)

Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

The website looks great, just saying. Also, only some people have panther, and many don't won't to bother with mods. Do we want to have one version with the complete store in panther, and one with a minimal store in the Scratch?

I just noticed. By the way, can you get a CS4 version. I haven't upgraded yet.

Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

When you go to Save As I believe there is an option to save as a CS4 document.

Hi, LIFE people,
Just reading through this thread this project does sound interesting. Unfortunately I do not know CS4, am terrible at PHP and really only have a rather basic grasp of HTML & CSS. Meshes are not my strength, neither is Javascript. The only way I could help this project would be in the form of Blender-created graphics or using GIMP.
Also...
How will this be distributed, as in via this LIFE website or on Scratch? I sympathise with the development of this project and look forward to seeing its release, even if I cannot help you due to the lack of skill on my part.

Goodbye, Scratch. I am leaving because of the exams coming up at our school, though I'll check the forums once or twice a week.

Scratch distribution during the development period, then it will be distributed from our website.

Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

The best way to simulate a life, is to get a life.

No offense intended. Sorry.  sad

Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

Sorry for trolling early, but this does seem to be interesting, kinda like a beta Sims.
However, as many scratchers have mentioned above, this will take a lot of effort and time, not to mention some capacity limitations can be expected.
Simulating a 'life' is a very broad term (which I used the bad pun up there), since you'd expect the process to be from birth to death.
This would be really decent if it had the following. (Just my opinion though)

-Aging process in a cyber nutshell, just the right ammount of time to wait for your character to grow up.

-Various functions like the basic eating, drinking, clothing, sleeping, and some other misc. abilities. Free time, goofing around, and just not standing still when you don't touch the character.

-A realistic bio-system, which is, getting diseases now and then, and having to spend some time and money to cure it.

-Consumable and well-balanced currency, no 'stache glitches' but money made from pure effort

-Customizable character, house, automobile of choice, and pets (maybe?).

-Most of what you can see from a typical Sims game

There might be some radical challenges the developers would have to take, and some features thats impossible to code in,
but again, these are only my suggestions and personal opinions.

Keep up the great work.  smile

Re: LIFE - A Life Simulation Game

I must warn you of something. I made a sim-city game (hurry for sims fans!) BUT it didn't work on Paddle2See's flash player. So, I could not get this, which is a marvellous game, featured!!! I understand why he wouldn't, because of course how could he release something that couldn't work on his own flash player? But, I'm warning you that you maybe disappointed if you have to delete stuff from your game because is too big.

Also, Borrego6165, what is this other flash player you are talking about?

It's the flash player EVERYONE uses. Somehow the game would work on mine and a few other people's, but crash immediately on the scratch team's flash player.
