Re: The Scratch fora - what do you love, what do you hate?

I like....

The friendly users like sparks
The nice, simple forum interface
And the kind and helpful Mods and Scratch team
Checking for updates on lots of cool stuff!

I would like....

a unique view counter for forum posts, not just when you refresh 100 times and ta-da your post is famous

smile

Again, people, sparks is more looking for likes and dislikes of the forum system itself rather than the community and its users.

I mentioned above, everyone, that I'm looking for positives and negatives about the current fora's features more than the current fora's user-base  smile

Anyway, since I'm here, I may as well put my two cents in. I dislike the forum blocks (which are ancient, though I understand the Scratch Team not updating them) and the fact that there's no Preview button on the quick reply box. I also would rather the new posts that I read be marked read as I do so.

I +1 all three of these.  smile

I dislike the fact that there is no way to appreciate posts that users have done. That's why I made my like button system a while back.

I +1 this too.  smile

I gave several comments over on the forum dev thread, so I'll just copy some of them to here.  tongue

The boards could be split into sub-boards, for even better categorization. (I love virtual categorization.)

On topic list pages, I think it should show the topic title the way it currently does, and the first x characters of the message (newlines and spaces reduced) in a smaller font. This could be disabled though. The icons next to the title could be improved. Gray for closed, black for no-posts-in-over-a-month, blue for last-post-by-scratcher-or-new-scratcher, and maybe green for last-post-by-admin-or-mod.

We don't get enough time to edit topic titles.

I sometimes want to see what a post previously was, before it was edited. A user could choose whether to allow past viewing or not.

I'd like a bigger sig, maybe another 25px.

I'd like more themes.

i dont love or hate anything
those are both very strong emotions

That's okay, just things you like or dislike works fine.

What about the "Scratch Time" on posts rather than local time?

like sparks I also live in the UK and scratch time is really confusing for me

I also live in the UK but it's not as confusing. I just add 5 to the clock, and it shows the correct time.

Re: The Scratch fora - what do you love, what do you hate?

I dislike:
Users that like to post provocative topics to get attention.
"I quit" topics
Spam preventatives
Minecraft topic floods

I like:
That the most part of the users are friendly.
Intelligent responses
That everyone on here knows how to spell.

I like it when people reply to my posts.  smile

I don't like it when people quit (and make a big scene of it).

I also like the community, except most of the "cool" ones. They're almost worshipped by people wanting to be like them and they tend to insult a fair bit.

Mostly this, but it's mostly the people trying to be like the "cool" ones.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos
