Does this make me pessimist or an optimist?

Is the glass half empty of half full?

Well, if you're drinking the glass, it is half empty because you are emptying the glass by drinking out of it. If you are filling it up, it's half full because you are filling the glass by putting (drink) in it.

Am I a pessimist or an optimist (Or just a smart-censored)? How do you see the glass? Have you ever thought of it how I do?

Re: Does this make me pessimist or an optimist?

I can see why you think that, but it has nothing to do with whether the water's being taken out or put in, the question is Is the glass half empty or half full?
The amount of water in the glass has nothing to do with whether it's being poured in or emptied. That's what I believe, anyway.

I see it half-empty. Which makes me an optimist if it's warm water.  tongue

And, persistence outweighs success, so you're an optimist.

Since she's persistant, rather than reaching a goal, she's constantly positive?

@topic I feel you're just over-thinking it. Really, just think, do you feel that a half full glass of water is a satisfactory amount, giving "full" its relative meaning, or do you feel it is not enough, giving "half" its relative meaning in the situation.

You're taking the phrase too literally. If you don't succeed, but tried, you're the real winner, but if you won by unfair means, you're not. After all, if you tried hard, but lost, would you feel worse than if you won, but cheated?

And, persistence is like optimism, while cheating is giving up and cheating.

I don't think the way you judge a glass of liquid can determine what kind of person you are

You choose your side, I'll choose mine.

Optimist because you're helping yourself either way.
