Ok,
Me and my friend are playing MC. My freind just got MC and a new PC for XMas. I was setting up an MC server, but we encountered an issue. First of all, I am having no issues, but my friend is. When it starts, my friend starts falling into oblivian before he lands, with some fall damage, on the normal MC world. Then, he can't delete or place blocks without the blocks glitching up, and going back into place, then disappearing once again, and dropping it's item.
Like that's not all, everything else gets delayed. Server messages, private messages, pvp'ing, chat, and even walking. He doesn't see me walking until about 30 seconds after I walk, and sometimes not at all
Thanks,
WindowsExplorer
(I'm hosting the server using MC 1.0.1 Server software and we are both playing on MC 1.0.0)

You should probably ask in the Minecraft forums.
From what I see is that your friend is having trouble connecting to your server properly. Do you both have decent download and upload rate? ( Can you stream an HD Netflix movie without waiting for it to buffer and can you upload 10MB Scratch Projects in a couple seconds? ) Does your friend's computer run Minecraft just fine in Singleplayer mode?
But I think the main reason is because something between your server and his computer is slowing it down. Though I am unsure.

My connection is really fast, and he's using my internet because he's at my house.

Hmm, are you using an internal IP ( like 10.0.0.X, 198.162.0.X ) or some other way to connect? ( Like Hamachi )

Try walking away from the spawn to place blocks, and if there's a lot of mobs around, kill them.

If you are using the same internet/router just use the internal IP address. (You can open up CMD Prompt and type in IPCONFIG and it should give you a list of stuff. Look for IPv4 Address and use that one to connect. )

So, instead of Hamachi IP i just use IPv4 like 000.00.0.0:25565? Without port forwarding?

If you are on the same network, you don't need to port-forward. It's only if he wants to connect to your server from his house or from some other computer that isn't in your house.

You don't need to port-forward. I told you how to get your internal IP, just type that in for the IP you connect to ( with the colon, port ).

If he's playing at your house than you don't need to port forward, but if he's not then you have to port forward for use Hamachi.

I thought you said you were both at your house (you will have less problems if you are). Here, port-forwarding: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic … 9#p1017059

If you're using the .zip version (ment to be a .jar) - just edit the .bat file where the
M parts are, and make it so it's 1G, and make sure your friend is an op, to probbably make it work.

This is a common problem known as "lag" and it is usually caused by an insufficient amount of RAM on the server or an insufficient upload/download speed.

My speed is great and I have full connection, and it's not me, it's my friend having the errors.
