Wait, didn't you quit just a couple of days ago?
Anyway, just gradually build up your friendship, by finding interests you both share, and build on it from there
And why does it matter that it's halfway through the school year?

THAT. ALWAYS. WORKS.
I don't have any pokemon cards, and I doubt he does.

Situation: There's a boy I know-ish that I want to make friends with.
Problems:
1) I'm a girl. So? I'm a girl and friends with plenty of boys. Gender shouldn't matter. Yes, but some people might mistake them for boyfriend and girlfriend, instead of just hanging out buddys.
2) It's halfway through the school year. How does that affect anything? He might think that designer45 was shy and wouldn't ask him until then.
3) He's my crush. Dunno, sorry.
Any advice?
Sorry, but ask cheddargirl. She always has good advice. In fact I'm giving you good advice by asking you to ask cheddargirl

My advice is to ask a trusted person in real life who understand the situation better. I'm no good at giving advice about relationships since I'm kind of a lone-wolf person, and there's aren't many (if any) people on Scratch who are able to provide the proper guidance about these things.

Whenever I have a crush on someone (not often. I tend to see one guy, and have a crush on him for a few months, sometimes even a year. And usually I don't like anyone. I'm very picky.) I just talk to them like normal, get to know them.
Don't date, trust me, when you're in your early teens, dating can get messy, since most girls I know date one guy for a week, dump him, and a week later start dating again. One girl in my class has had NINE boyfriends.

Why be friends if hes ur crush, dont set the bar low.
Um.
1. He's already in a relationship, maybe
2. She's not old enough for that, maybe
3. Her parents don't want her dating yet, maybe
4. Same thing as above but with the boy, maybe
5. The boy doesn't like her back, maybe
Even I know this q_q. Use some common sense, boy...

None of the above. I just don't feel ready to date yet.
