Even though she's worked at my school for over a decade, she knew what Half-Life was.
How I know this:
Virginia Tech created CHARLIE-2, a soccer robot. The same guy who built CHARLIE also built other robots. One is called STriDER. It's based off of a Strider from Half-Life 2 and so we were watching a video about his robots in class. When he was talking about the STriDER, he said it was "based off of this" and a video clip of a guy fighting a Strider in HL2 came on and in HUGE text at the bottom of the screen it said:
[Half-Life 2 Copyright VALVe Corporation]
and my teacher asks:
"Does anyone know or play this game?"
I jumped out of my seat. And I said to myself, "THIS GUY IS FROM THE INTERNET :'D"
I got an extra 3 points on my Social Studies grade.

Haha, whenever someone asks if a teacher knows what [video game name here] is, the teachers are like, 'A what?'

Yeah
Except for my Science teacher, who's also my tutor. He's really cool, and he plays all the latest games

I don't really find it too significant when people in the real world mention things from the internet. Lots of people use it, you know
But it kind of gets annoying when you have a sister who references memes fairly often and believes they're all solely from Tumblr
