I am Wings-Games sidekick so I'm writing this one. Please do not apply to be one, we are not looking for more reviewers.

Marble Maze 0.4:

Idea: 20/25
I was goanna give you 25 because it seemed to me like a very unique game, until I saw
the project notes and realised what it was based on. The way you put it in scratch is
very good, but you automatically lose 5 points for originality. Still, 20 points is a lot.

Gameplay: 22/25
Fun, addictive and simple. Maybe speeding it up would make it drain a little less time
off your day, because the game makes you wanna go to the next level and find out
what happens next, but sadly you're going nowhere until you've pushed an arrow
key for 10 minutes. That will also effect the score "Ease of use". I've got to admit
though, it is boring that the wood piece in the middle doesn't change much in shape.
I got to level 4 and it was still in that sort of shape, but with one or two adjustments.

Understandability: 15/15
   Very easy to understand.

Ease of Use: 12/15
Read the game-play section. Continuation: simple arrow use, but moving the ball is
   difficult.

Feel: 8/10
Feels like a maze, looks like a maze. Why not 10/10? If I'm being honest, this section is
too easy- all you have to do is get your game to feel like what it should and you get 10!
PS. I've reduced it to 8. Read the "sounds" section.

Graphics: 5/5
They're in 3D, marble looks like a marble, good textures used.

Sound: 3/5
Good sound effects and tunes, except the music doesn't suit the game. If you're going
for a wild and crazy theme then change the rest of the game to suit the music. I did
give you a 10 before for "feel" but I'm reducing it to 8 because I've realised now that
   sound affects feel too.

Overall: 85/100

Thanks Borrego! I am not looking to change my score, just for a suggestion for improvement. I realize that the music doesnt suit the feel of the game. Could you recommend some music or a place to get music that will fit? P.S. Did I win any prizes for my score? ~plb

erm... not too sure. usually i just get the sims soundtrack and edit it to make it sound like completely different music. Simcity 3000 works well too. Not SC4 though.
And you'll have to check the front page for prizes, I'm new here so I don't wanna make mistakes on my second review. I think prizes will be WingsGames department.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPACE INVADERS

   Ideas: 20/25
The game is a copy to the original, so an automatic 5 points is deducted. However, the way it was presented and transferred to scratch, and the idea of trying to put it into scratch is still a good one. Full points rewarded (of the 20 left)!

   Gameplay: 25/25
It's a simple classic. Easy and down right fun! You don't lose any automatic points here, as long as you add something new. There are no real changes to gameplay, but what's there is already good.I usually write reviews based on what's not in the game, rather then what is, so to be more like WingsGames who based it on what was in the game, I will give you top marks for what IS in there, but because it's lacking some extra creativity it would have been lower.

   Ease of Use: 15/15
Easy and simple controls. I did not need more than a second to work out the controls. Full points rewarded!

   Understandability: 15/15
I never understood this bit of the review fully. Ease of use and understandability I thought would mean the same. After what (s)he put in my review for Chicken Chow Mein, it looks like this means "Is the story reasonable" or "Is there a purpose to the game- does it make sense to have it?". In other words, does the story work? My answer is, there is no story, but like most arcade games, there's no need to be one.

   Feel: 10/10
Feels like a classic, looks like one and sounds like one!

   Graphics: 5/5
Just like the original!!!

   Sound: 5/5
Doesn't need weird sci-fi music, or anything which wasn't there! Good work!

Total:
95/100 Well done!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THEORY 2

I could not click on the PLAY button. The EXIT button works fine though.

Review for CIVILIZATION

   Idea: 10/25
Well, the idea of a city game has been done MANY times. I even made my own, with a drive mode and two disasters. This lacks many features which could have been implemented, and since it uses hardly any buttons, it seems a bit... lazy. Without an interface or any real structure, and variables placed all over the screen, this interpretation of Simcity/Civilization is not one of the best. You click "Opponent#1" and get a large grey box. The fact that the buttons are dull and grey makes things hard to see. It is nice you get the military side to it, (hence it being called Civilization and not Simcity) but that fact that it doesn't seem to work make it pointless. So, for making civilization onto scratch, you get 10, but the real output loses you 15 points.

   Gameplay: 15/25
I think this was pretty much covered in the first section. 15 points for making the interface not too complicated and also for making it rather simple.

   Ease of Use: 8/15
I was left confused, and the over-long and too-small tutorial was no real help at all. It should be optional like mine, where you only click on the topics you need to read about, and skip the others. 8 points for having a tutorial.

   Understandability: 10/15
I could not understand how to play the game. But, I could understand what each building did. If there were less glitches or an easier tutorial to understand, this would have been higher. 10 points.

   Feel: 4/10
Feels quite dull with all the greyness. Plus, the loading screen makes the game feel slower then it already is. 4 points!

   Graphics: 1/5
Needs work. It's dull, it's boring, it's plain, and it's basic. 1 point for having more then text commands on screen.

   Sound: 3/5
Finally, something al-right about the game. It does lack on sound effects, but the music is acceptable. 3 points!

TOTAL: 51/100

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CUBE DEFENSE12.0

   Idea: 20/25
I love TD games! It is not an original game though, seen as it plays pretty much the same as any other TD game does. Sorry, but an automatic 5 points is lost.

   Gameplay: 18/25
It's hard to play. You see, there are no upgrades or any stats. How do you know what you are placing when there are no stats? Plus, the towers are very slow to react, and some never seem to shoot at all. I can't even get the first tower to shoot something. For it's simplicity, and because this is playable without having to look at the tutorial, this still gets a lot of points here.

   Ease of use: 5/15
This is where the tutorial comes in. The problem with it was, it sometimes went on to the next stage without me finishing the one I was doing, so I had to keep restarting it just to see if I could get through the whole thing. Sadly, I gave up quite early. Also, it asked me to click on the wrench, but because nothing was broken then I couldn't click on anything, or get it off the cursor. Ease of use is about the tutorial and learning bit, and even though it's easy to guess what to do, it loses points on the glitchy tutorial.

   Understandability: 15/15
The story is simple. Defeat the enemies as they come past. It's understandable.

   Feel: 4/10
Feels like a TD, except it loses the craziness of Bloons TD, and loses the seriousness of Lord of War. Both are TDs with different styles, but yours doesn't seem to fit in any style, other then "bland". Try to go for either nerdy and magical or fun, cartoony and "hip".

   Graphics: 2/5
Because of the lack of style, you do lose points here. but the images are neat and quite well drawn.

   Sound: 2/5
Not many sound effects or music in this game. But, you do hear the odd siren, and the famous scratch pop.

TOTAL: 66/100

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BRICK AMV

Sorry, games only.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warriors Remembarence Project

Sorry, games only. Plus, it's hard to review something like that anyway.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Really long named animation

Sorry, games only.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unpredictable

   Idea: 25/25
Cool, original and fun! Nothing else I need to say.

   Gameplay: 20/25
Simple, affective, but even the easy mode was way to hard for me. If it was too hard on the medium or hard mode, you'd have only lost maybe 2 points, but because this is on easy then I was scared to go any further up a level.

   Ease of Use: 12/15
it's easy, but the bouncing ball does seem to be a bit delayed, which DOES make it more realistic, but there's a balance between control and realistic game mechanics.

   Understandability: 15/15
Easy to understand.

   Feel: 10/10
Feels fun.

   Graphics: 3/5
Graphics could do with more detail. We have 32-bit colour screens for a reason.

   Sound: 3/5
The music is good, but the sound effects elsewhere are non existent. Still, at least the effort went into the programming, unlike other games which prioritise the wrong things.

TOTAL: 88/100

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BasicMation

   Idea: 25/25
Brilliant idea! Sorry this will be shorter than my previous entries, but with WingsGames gone and this huge pile-up he left me is taking forever to get through.

   Gameplay; 18/25
It's not really a game, but I thought I'd review this anyway because there's enough to write about. The features you can use are good, and the interface is fairly simple, but it is hard to work out at first.

   Ease of Use: 7/15
It's quite hard to use at first, but when you get the hang of it, it becomes quite easy. It could do with some tweaking, and perhaps less random stuff would make it easier. You see, as soon as you start the project, you click play and this random villain and hero comes on. How do you delete it? What do you do with it? Before I even leant all the stuff later on, I was already confused and messed up.

   Understandability: 7/15
It's easy to understand AFTER a few goes. At first, it is too much.

   Feel: 8/10
This feels like an animator. It's hard to rate it with it not being a game.

   Graphics: 3/5
The buttons could be made to look neater, with the text colour given a higher contrast to the things behind it.

   Sound: 4/5
Good music, but sound effects would have been nice!

TOTAL: 65/100

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cool Penguin Username Generator

Sorry, games only. If I'm being honest, how would you write a review for a name generator? It's a name generator- it either works or doesn't.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Fantasy Quest

   Idea: 5/25
The idea is a good one, but the way it was put into scratch was... not so good. Why would you think to do it like that?

   Gameplay: 4/25
Well, you click on a few buttons to release commands like thunder. Then you see a load of pixellated images fall down and decrease a few random numbers on the left of the screen. The tutorial told me what I had already guessed, but did not tell me anything I needed to know. Without any knowledge of how to play the game, never mind the fact that the game seems to be not the best planned out game ever, this gets a  low mark.

   Ease of Use: 1/15
As I said before, the tutorial does not help. The controls make no sense, I simply don't know how to play.

   Understandability: 5/15
I'll give you 1/3 of the marks for the story line: A random thing comes along so you have to destroy it. But there is nothing else I can understand about it.

   Feel: 2/10
Feels rushed and a bit tacky, needs LOTS of work.

   Graphics: 2/5
At least they looked like what they were meant to... sort of.

   Sound: 1/5
Don't ask...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Town Of A Warrior

   Idea: 18/25
The idea of a top-down adventure game has been done many times, but the way it's been put into scratch is OK.

   Gameplay: 16/25
Gameplay is simple, perhaps too simple. This game needs more things within it to make it a game. Maybe you should have waited for it to be a full game and not a demo before coming here. I can only give you a medium score for now. But, it certainly doesnt deserve a low score, that's for sure. A few gameplay features here and there are good.

   Ease of Use: 10/15
The controls are simple, except that I hate having to use both the mouse and keyboard. The tradition is: mouse in menus, keyboard in the game. Trying to do both with my right hand (my left hand is clumsy) is just a pain, to keep switching between the two.

   Understandability: 9/15
It's easy to understand, except there is no storyline, so you can't get loads of points here.

   Feel: 7/10
It feels good, but the graphics and sounds bring this down (explained below).

   Graphics: 2/5
They are detailed and attractive, given that the resolution on scratch is terrible and there is nothing much we can do about it. However, it seems clear that hardly anything was drawn yourself (except the interface which I could guess quite easily). Because of that, and because it seems a bit too random (I swear there was one of them Jawa desert things from Star Wars) you lose points. In the future, use your own graphics, make them detailed and make them fit in to the theme.

   Sound: 2/5
This is where the game gets annoying. The music loop is way too short, and the fact that it is straight from where I presume is the scratch folder (don't ask how many projects I've seen have had this music loop in it going round and round and round and round and round and round). There are no sound effects either, non that I noticed anyway.

BasicMation

About Ease of Use: There is a help button on the project. It tells you what to do. The starter animation is just to show you an example of something you could make.

GENERATION 33: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment

Re: Get Your Project Reviewed and Advertised!

Thanks for reviewing my project! Overall, I'm please with the review, but I'd like to ask, where could I put sound effects? When you collect a coin, it makes a Mario type noise, but I couldn't really find anywhere else to put sound effects. I did search for a spring sort of noise for when you bounce, but couldn't find any  hmm

Erm... don't know really! It sounded a bit quiet at times, but no idea how you'd improve it.

Re: Get Your Project Reviewed and Advertised!

Great idea! Could you please review one of my most popular projects? That would mean a lot. It is called The Star Adventure (Deluxe Version). Sorry if it is slow. It has 1000+ scripts and 200+ sprites.
