Friend

Okay, so I have this friend, but I want to get rid of him. We used to be best friends, but now he is so annoying. I am mature, and he acts like he is 10 (no offense to those who are 10) while he is 13. His immaturity is shown when he laughs when Buttpoopia comes up. Also, we have no interests. He likes Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Mario, Sonic, and Kirby, while I don't like any of those, but like sports and racing games instead. He's already mad at me (a little) for deciding to get rid of the Wii for an XBOX 360. He also bothers me with his random video game facts, quotes, and Justin Bieber parodies. I tell him I don't want to watch his Bieber parodies, but he claims the one he wants to show me is funny.

Finally, he has lied to me. He lied to get out of one of my birthday parties, decided at the last second to not sleep over at my house, and when he said he wouldn't play with a certain kid, he did anyway. I hate him. But his Mom always wants us to get together. I'm too mature for him. He always bothers me, and we don't share any interests.

Should I tell him I don't like what he likes (which is true) and hopefully he begins to not like me? What do you think?

Re: Friend

You should confront him nicely and let him know that although you used to have things in common you dont anymore. (:

Actually, that website I linked you to is exactly what I would've said.

Tell him, but don't just go up to him like "OH BY THE WAY I HATE YOU HAHAHAHA BYE."  Be nice about it.  Maybe, "I wish we could work this out, but our friendship seems like it's falling apart."

Re: Friend

Okay, despite your hate for this "friend," remember that he is a human being. Respect that. If you don't have any other respect for him, just remember that. You can't just dump him as if he is a thing.

Tell him that you are a person too. He needs to know that you need respect, and once both of you understand that, it'll go more smoothly.

And then let him know that you two are different. You were best friends, but his interests have floated off somewhere else. Everyone hangs out with people of the same or similar interests. So tell him that your time is valuable, and that you would like to spend it with people who understand you.

You're hurt that he lied, and you really should be! He wronged you, and he has to apologize and mean it.

And when you're mom tell you to go be nice to him, do that. But you don't have to waste your time being with someone you don't like.

Sooner or Later. Or sooner. Not much, except for a lot. In a way. But it will come no matter what.

Re: Friend

Tell his mom that  you aren’t comfortable around his son.

Tell his mom what makes you uncomfortable about being around him.

That’s how I got out of a friendship, and two relationships.

Yeah, but his Mom would be very mad at me that I don't want to be friends with her son.

Oh... She's THAT kind of mom. I know what you mean.

You should just try and keep your distance from him, and ignore him. Don't laugh at any of his jokes, and just avoid him. Sooner or later, he'll go away.

Drop the friendship slowly, act as if you are uninterested in anything he says, and whatever you do, don't look at anything he tells you to. Just take it slow and easy, and you will go from having a friendship, into having an acquaintanceship in about a week to a month. If he's really "clingy" it could take two months.

I'm not sure what kind of advice you're offering, but I would be quite offended if my best friend came up to me and said something along the lines of...

example:
Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I think you have been acting very childish lately. Personally, I believe that I am much more mature than you, and I don't want to be your friend anymore if you can't grow up. So go with your childish interests, back into the third grade, because you and your overprotective mom need to give me space, and I find you very annoying.

That was honest, strait-forward and frank. And if someone were to say that to me, I would be very offended.
