Re: How do you make 3d games

if u want 3d terrain u can go type in terragon in google and its a 3d terrain renderer

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201

Re: How do you make 3d games

terragen has really cool textures for the terrain, but editing the terrain itself is a pain..its good for some aplacations.

Really, you can't do any practical 3-D rendering in scratch. Try Java, or Blender.

Have you seen my Partial Double Helix project? The link is on Page 3.

Re: How do you make 3d games

technecly you can't make a 3d game in scratch because scratch users sprites and sprites arn't 3d (except in doom which had 3d everything else) and also in 3d you can turn left and right look up and down for pure 3d but you could make it look 3d (doom) by having millions of sprites which would take lots of scripting as well

if it was 3d in scratch it would take ages to load on the website and the lag would be really bad

I think that instead of talking in old topics you should talk in the new members forum so that everyone gets to meet you.

dude, for a game like quake you can make 50000000000 backgrounds and program them to change when the move keys are pressed

Re: How do you make 3d games

You must use a program to create the images, such as Google SketchUp or Blender. Then you import the frames into scratch by dragging them in. you now have 3D

Re: How do you make 3d games

Most advanced scratchers may use just pen to create wireframe 3d graphics... but if, the FPS will be at 0.3

Re: How do you make 3d games

Yah, there are some other better meathods that can be used to draw "3D" faces, with  X axisis(actually Z axis in this case) rotation, but even then the FPS is savearly reduced. For a game, I would recommend using prerendered sprites, probably isometric/pseudo isometric.

Re: How do you make 3d games

It's a little bit hard because you don't see them that much on scratch.

You know what would be a much better tool for Scratch users to make 3D games? Alice. http://www.alice.org/

It's *much* easer than spending 72 years trying to learn the insanely complicated (but very powerful) Blender. It also has a similar interface and comprehensive tutorials, so you'll be right at home.

Dang, this guy is a genius.
I have used Alice and it would be really cool if the scratch and alice people made a sort of 3d scratch. And while I'm dreaming, MIT should also make a scratch platform for iPhone.

Another way to simulate 3d is to have a stage that looks like a view on, say, a field from 45 degrees up. Then have a sprite with four different costumes, one for going backwards into the screen, one for going forwards out from the screen, and one each for right or left. If you want the sprite to be able to jump, you'd have to create a variable called "z" and "true y" and other unsimple things. I will have a project like this soon. Keep your eyes peeled; I'll call it "3d motion engine 1.0"

Actually, the way I came up with is really hard, everything looks fake if you do it wrong.

Re: How do you make 3d games

This is how you make 3D Games:
1. First you open up paint (if you have Microsoft XP)
2.Download Callipygan3D V2.9
3.Paint something and save it "Documents" as an JPEG Image
4.Open it up on Callipyan and highlight the part of the image you want
5.Set it to anaglph
6.Save it on Desktop and open it up on scratch

THE END

zooming in and zooming out isn't 3D (it's perspective)

and you can't just expect things to open into scratch and scratch has to be able to read the file and you would have to program the person/thing you are playing as to move around what ever object. So making 3D would take alot of time
