I think we'll all be happy on the Arabic site, though.

Re: Operation Delete Miscellaneous

mattb777: Misc is supposed to be a place to put topics that don't belong anywhere else. The Scratch forums are for Scratch, not for anything non-related to Scratch. That was the same purpose of Inspiration and More, but it still became an "Everything Else" section.

fire219: I was trying to think up of examples, but your topic came up as my first thought. It wasn't meant to be directed at you or anyone that posted in the topic. It was just an example.  smile

Now I am kind of rethinking my statement. I can see why Scratchers would want to get to know each other a little more and be social ( I'm kind of an anti-social programmer  tongue  ) and prefer asking questions in a community they are familiar with.

So how about we add a "Social" forum where people can be social and post their little games and stuff?

Re: Operation Delete Miscellaneous

I really see no reason to delete Misc.

Why can't the forum go back to it's original state? The scratch forums used to be a place where new users can get familiar. Now it's just a big chat room. (in misc)

Users still have every opportunity to ‘get familiar’, Misc. does not prevent people from doing those things.

I think you’re over reacting to a problem that can be easily avoided. The solution is quite simple. If you don't like miscellaneous, why come? Nobody is forcing you to come here, and if it bothers you, then don't.
The fact is allot of people enjoy the this forum, and I don't think it's fair for you to try and spoil it for them.

Um, so basically the big solution is to rename misc?

It's basically a bit like a blogging site- facebook or something, but with all kids and rules to stop trolling/swearing and stuff.

And I like it.

NO. I really like misc. Even if there are a lot of trolls, for the most part, the community is great. Sure, it could be improved, but it's not that bad.

I believe that instead of deleting it, better/more guidelines should be put in place. I think that instead of just posting stuff here, it should be related to Scratch, programming, or something related to technology and education.

But then that would defeat the whole purpose of calling is " Miscellaneous"
becuase Miscellaneous means unrelated to scratch forums.
and if  Miscellaneous is deleted, the trollers will talk about random subjects that have nothing to do with scratch somewhere else
