Why don't you post some topics that you think don't count as spam? With that many people posting topics, I think that topics would be way better. But most of you guys would rather complain than actually try.
We have tried that, but now with all of the useless topics people flock to those and don't see the useful ones.

@Magnie: You are hideously wrong in your whole statement (excuse the first paragraph and half of the first sentence in the last paragraph). I think that an online community should be allowed to discuss anything appropriate for children. While some topics are meaningless, a "What did you get for Christmas?" topic is not meaningless. I do think that Misc. needs more guidelines and security.
That's the point, Scratch isn't an online community. Scratch is a programming language. You don't see people on the PHP forums discussing Christmas gifts, do you? Or the Java forums?
No. I agree with Magnie. Stricter guidelines should be put into place. Another thing is that I think they should disable post counts for Misc, as in if you post in Misc, your post count doesn't increase. Many people see it in their head to get a high post count. Since Misc is very loosely ruled, they post and post there. Thus, creating our mountain of useless topics.
Read the last sentence of this post. I underlined it for you.
Maybe the problems with Misc. could be fixed when we get more Moderators from the election in March. It would be hard to incorporate some post count system like that. If that was in the Forums, there might be lots of glitches, causing you to not gain posts for posting in other forums.
Deleting Misc. will NOT stop trolling, and may cause other Forums to go offtopic. NO FORUM is complete without a Misc. Forum.

Make 3 topics a day. Eventually, there will be more good than bad.

JJROCKER, did you just suggest every Misc. regular post 3 topics a day??!!!
YOU MUST BE JOKING D:
That's not gonna end well, it'll be 90% rubbish, and the 10% of good topics will be pushed down by everyone replying to the bad ones pointing out how bad it is. ._.
I hope that isn't what you meant.

I mean the people who want Misc. to close. Most of them think they know what good bad topics are so they'll be able to create good topics, right?

Here's the way I see it if Misc. was deleted:
- Community has temporary shock
- People struggle to stay on topic in other forums
- In lieu of [img] removal, the ST removes more abilities to attempt troll control (hey that term has a bit of a ring to it)
- Major outrage
- After many protests, the forums are removed
- Trolls and spammers move to the mainsite, where that stuff is less noticeable due to the huge clutter of data on the site
- Andres eventually has to shut down Scratch
- We all move to the Arabic site, where we'll be happily ever after
But I think this might be a worst-case scenario, don't you think. :p

Yes, this wouldn't help the forums at all. That's like giving all your possessions to the burglar, so he doesn't steal them.
