Few things to say. First off, this is the whole reason for Misc. It gives users a place to post if it doesn't belong anywhere else. If you think it needs to be taken down because of useless posts, then all scratch needs is more moderators. Also, you may not see anyone talking about Christmas presents on the php forums because none of them are kids. Scratch is the only friendly comunity of kids. The reason so many people post in misc. Is because they are all just like each other. We're all probably around the same age, and all love programming. I've made severa  friends on scratch because of the misc. Forums. It gives me a place to go when I'm bored, or feel alone, and I'm sure other scratchers come here when they feel angry, or sad. There's just somthing about scratchers that are different from other forums. If the scratch misc. does go down, I may make my own forum for scratchers only, for them to post when they're bored, mad, sad, happy, or they want to just share with the world. If you think that the misc is getting out of controll, then maybe all it needs are more moderators.

TheBajeebas, that attitude is horrible. If we delete Misc, your post count would go down? Post in other forums and help out others!

Without Misc., where would you say things like that?

Deleting misc is like saying you don't get recess at school. People would have no place to do whatever they wanted, so they would do it in class. Just like if we deleted Misc., then people would put Minecraft topics and Christmas topics and other fun stuff in the other sections.

Which would you rather have: a place to put non-Scratch posts you don't have to visit, or those things filling up everywhere else?

You're probably right though, people would just start using other forums to post things that would belong in Misc. 

Nobody really said you had to go on misc, if you don't like it then go, don't try get rid of something everyone else likes because you don't.

If Misc gets deleted, topics unrelated to Scratch will not suddenly appear on other forums. Of course the occasional will but it will be removed. Simple as that. Its not gonna be a huge spike of off-topic threads.
This is not flamebait. In what way is he flaming? Read the original post. Nothing is wrong with it. Its the people like you who come and oppose it that start the actual fighting.

Its not just that he doesn't like it- it is negatively affecting the community. He isn't 'trying to get rid of it' simply because in his opinion Misc isn't good- he is trying to open the eyes of people like you who seem to have forgotten what scratch is for. The point of misc is that it's not Scratch related, I've had my fun from Scratch yet I like the community, now you're saying I don't deserve to know the community unless I still use Scratch. And nobody's being affected, everyone's flouncing around saying they're quitting, but that's about it. Most of the "badly affected" people are people moaning about how badly affected people are.

The point of misc is that it's not Scratch related, I've had my fun from Scratch yet I like the community, now you're saying I don't deserve to know the community unless I still use Scratch. I also believe you are misquoting me when you implied that I said specific people are getting affected badly. All I said was the community in general is being negatively affected. There's a difference.

Nobody's being badly affected at all, it's just people whining about the troll attacks, which we should be over by now but the Scratch community likes to milk things until something drastic happens, then they complain about that.

If everyone shut up about the troll attacks it'd be back to normal, but we're giving the troll more than he wanted by ruining the site with whining and flouncing.

Hm, its funny that you want Misc to stay so you can be with the community yet now you are complaining about how 'whiny' and 'flouncy' they are. If you don't like the whiners, why do you support misc? Misc is where the whiners are going to whine.

So you want the whining to be carried over to the other sections then? Misc IS where whiners will whine, that is a good thing, whiners are ignored (or in this case get 3 pages of replies) and nothing really changes, now something bad actually did happen nobody will shut up, the troll just started it, and the community is finishing it.

If misc. wasn't here no one would be complaining about the troll attacks, because they wouldn't have existed.

The thing is though- if the whiners post in the other topics, the mods remove it because it is off topic. But if you have misc, all the whining piles up in there because the mods leave it. So pretty much, no misc = no whining.
