Since the recent troll attacks, Scratch has entered a deep depression. Even before, spammer numbers increased to high numbers. Some people who I thought would never quit are doing just that.
We need to get out of this depression. So many great scratchers are quitting! We need solutions. Ideas?

People quit because they want to quit

Really? before jothandd, everything was just dandy and now it's like a giant flame war took place and everyone quit.
Total people who have quit so far: about 3
Total troll attacks: 2
percentage of spam: 30% (high estimate)
Average people who quit per week week: 1
Average troll attacks per week: 0.5
Average spam: 60%
Seems pretty close

People have given reasons, and some of those reasons were caused by the troll attacks. Anyway, I didn't say that they were forced to quit.

Go through the topics and find the basics:
1) Spamming
2) Trolling
3) Closing of Good Topics
Ideas how to fix 1 & 2:
- Stricter Limits on promotion from New Scratcher to Scratcher
- Post Counts (A random troll won't troll if it requires work)
- Manually Promoting New Scratchers to Scratchers; this would take time and effort
- Banning if they're topic is closed
- A spammer can keep on spamming if they're not banned, let's say if they make 2 topics that are closed due to their fault in a week; they are temporarily banned for X number of days to stop the spam topics
- Repeated bans would result in a permanant ban?
- User Reporting System
- If a topic gets X amount of reports from differnet network IPs it is sent to the dustbin for Mods and Admins to review.
- There would be several other categories for reporting like a check box for Spam Troll Inapporiate Other and would have an X amount of reports to be sent the Dustbin along with the short expanation.
Ideas to fix 3:
- Petitions
- If enough people signed a petion for a topic to get re-opened, it would be set under review again. They would need a short expanation of why it should be re-opened
- More Mods
- More mods could help the other moderators and admins deal with topics and creating new ideas for what should happen to them
- Mods from different time zones could help patrol the forums while others are not avalible
I know, that was a long post, hopefully it helps though!

I noticed, everyone seems to be going offtopic recently, let's try and stay on topic.

Personally I see nothing wrong, people have been quitting for attention for years. If they want to leave, that's their business.
As for spam, I see no difference in the amount.
As for trolls, you all should take everything more skeptically from now on.

Post happy topics.

Don't post topics about it.

It just tells you something about the new miscers
this EXACT THING happened last year and we didn't get ANY of this
they disabled a HARDLY USED Bbcode tag
and people are petitioning?
Somebody may or may not have died
can you say lonwol? This also happened last year
there's no need to overreact people
from what I see
It's not the quality of posts that are going down
it's the maturity of miscers
seriously guys calm down
this'll all be over soon
you guys need to mature, in my opinion because this happened last year and there was no petition
now I'll admit
the mods have done some forsaking of bad topics and closing of good ones
but uh
I'm not going to elaborate because they're the ones with the mouse on the "Ban User" button
