I check EVERYTHING! Well, not as much as I used to.
One time, I got out of bed in the middle of the night to check of the door was locked 
And I spent like 60 seconds checking if the lights were off in the bathroom.
I also got something out of the fridge and checked 10 times to see if it was closed
I don't do that anymore, though, but I still check everything.

I'm not an expert or anything, but it sounds you could have OCD.
I check things all the time as well, along with counting and sorting them.
It's so annoying
