What I usually do is, next to where the project is showing, almost at the top of the web page, it says, "Download this project! Download "Guitar Hero" (I don't know, I'd use that for this example) (28 sprites and 97 scripts) and open it in Scratch"
Is that what other people have been suggesting?

The only time it happened to me was when I tried to download a project that had been made with net scratch. (which I didn't have at the time) I would suggest making sure you have the most recent version of Scratch, though they all should be compatible.

Netscratch is going to be a new Scratch program, but multiplayer. I'm pretty sure Betas are available for download, considering I have one

http://scratch.mit.edu/notifications Go here. And next time, ask in the all about scratch section with your own topic, no piggybacking on others.

That error usually means you are running an older version of Scratch which doesn't know how to open projects created on newer versions of Scratch. You may want to check the version you are running (it's shown at the top of the screen when you open a new, empty project) and upgrade it to version 1.3.1 if it's something older.

By downloading without logging in, just add /download or download if /is already in the end of the URL of the project and press enter and it shall download or click save or whatever.
