What, just because something comes from the True North Strong and Free ("strong and free" is the official motto, and that entire phrase is from the national anthem) means it isn't good? (not saying that JB is good- well, he sorta almost is, but has terrible writers, you know, all that)
But, yeah, music these days is trash. Not saying there aren't a few songs out there that are good, but usually, they're VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS. I mean, seriously? The best music nowadays is the them of LoZ: SS? Back in the SNES era, video game soundtracks were NEVER considered good. Now, they're the best music out.
If these music artists want to truly appeal to me, they might want to improve. A lot.

... I like them. Have you ever heard the Mega Man 3 music?

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

Technically, it really all depends on opinion. In YOUR opinion, the music industry has reached a catastrophic low point, when others would disagree. Over that point, I would actually agree with you.

Though I do like Gaga or Green day, there is a lot of really bad music around these days that really don't express a lot more than swearing and an unreasonable passion. Rapping consists of tons of odd and inappropriate content, only expressing negative things. Even when it sounds good, it usually means something bad.

The music I listen to, I don't always necessarily believe in, but there is music that truly expresses such a negative attitude.

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

just because the music you like isnt being made anymore doesn't mean the industry is dead, theres plenty of good music coming out. maybe it isn't of a genre you like, but that doesn't mean other people dislike it brah

Bon Jovi is still around?!?!  yikes   big_smile

@PlutoIsHades and Dinoclor: Come on in.  wink  *starts playing Bon Jovi music from the 80s*

Bon Jovi released a new album in 2010 and another new one in 2011.

You are not a proper fan >:U

Saying I am not a a proper fan is like saying Rebecca Black is not annoying.

I know Living on a Prayer by heart, and know most of Blaze of Glory, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night, and several other Bon Jovi songs.

@GirWaffles: For saying Bon Jovi is gross, you have lost several Life-Win points.

It has come to my attention that recently or as a matter of fact, in the last 5 years or so there has been no good music, artists or bands come out of nowhere. All comedians aside (they'll always be great except for Adam Sandler) what we've seen recently in terms of music is a Canadian beaver who introduced a wave of terrible hair trends, a woman whose auto tune sounds so obvious that she's like the pop star equivalent of Stephen Hawking and most recently a girl who is concerned about nothing but the days of the week and I'm surprised she can actually read a calender! Pre-millennium there were the best bands ever. AC/DC, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Nirvana, The Beatles, Queen, The Runaways and Europe complete with singers who didn't need auto tune to make their voices sound good like Micheal Jackson and Freddie Mercury from an age where pop music was actually cool and when nobody had to put up with all this techno rubbish. Honestly, all I hear on people's iPods these days at school is Party Rock Anthem, Bounce and that Good Feeling song. I mean, doesnt anyone realise how auto tuned their voices are and how barely anyone these days can sing! As long as you've got the looks you can make a million bucks these days. D'you think Freddie Mercury came famous for his looks? No! He had a silly moustache and rediculois teeth but he could sing amazingly well and that's why he was appreciated as a musician. Not because he had a silly fringe or sounded like a robot or was overly concered about the days of the week. All I really want to say is that music is dead and unless someone comes along with some great new genre I don't think we'll be able to resurrect it.
I'm a big "Weird Al" Yankovic fan and I recently bought his latest CD (yes I still buy CDs but it's cheaper than iTunes alright) and found that some of his singing (not auto tuned) is better that the original artists that he's parodying. Consider that.

wut?

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

I like chiptune, Weird Al, most Linkin Park, and some songs from TV shows- it's WAY better than the crud on the radio.

No offense radio people, but I hate hearing the same mainstream songs being played over and over in a loop that never, ever, gets shuffled.

+1..... except for chiptune. (I assume thats when you make the voice pitch much higher so that it sounds like chipmunks singing. Am I correct?)

Re: The Music Industry Is Dead

Most of it is due to technology, back in GnR days they didn't have amazing sound systems so most of it was all done on the spot with an amp, now you can just autotune and make pitch changes to be famous, there's no point in learning how to play the guitar because if someone's better looking than you and they have a way to autotune they WILL be more famous.

Like Rebecca Black.

Good looking
Can't play anything
Can't sing
Has Autotune
Famous
