We have to stand up whenever a member of staff walks in the classroom.
It's really annoying.
Even if we're in the middle of a really important test or something, we all have to stand up, and then we all lose concentration
NO. JUST NO.
Elementary school had the stupidest rules.
We couldn't walk in the snow, even if we had boots on (and this was AFTER SCHOOL!!1!!)
We couldn't run outside (After school, again )

That's much better.
I mean, a cat eating pizza is just disturbing.
But a cat getting eaten by a toilet...
It's much more sensible.

My school for a while kept sending people down to the park behind it telling students to leave it, even though the school didn't own it.
...Quite a few people complained, and it was discovered someone was acting independently from the principal.

NO playing loud innapropriate music out loud. They do, however let people play Pumped up Kicks BLASTINGLY loud. Oh the irony.
How is that possible?
It's not like you can play loud music quietly
Out loud as opposed to wearing headhones when playing it.

Well, it wasn't the whole school, but when I was in 4th grade, even if it was perfectly sunny and warm out, my teacher made us stay inside for recess. Every day. For the whole school year. And not only that, but the teacher made us do what she wanted us to do during recess.

If you are playing four square you are not allowed to hit the ball with excessive force as to send the ball out of the squares (ISN'T THAT THE POINT)
If you are playing four square you are not allowed to hit the ball with excessive force as to sent the ball up (this I can understand) above the players heads
If you are playing tetherball you can only hit the ball in one direction
If you are playing tetherball you can only play in a non-competitive fashion
no walking within 3 meters of puddles
no walking within 3 meters of grass on a wet day
no picking up snow but you can roll snow into a snowball
no touching ice
NO SCRAPING ICE OFF OF THE WALL SO THAT YOU CAN LEAN ON IT
You can however
STEAL AND BURY PEOPLES HATS (in the winter)
"accidentally" hit people in the face with a soccer ball
PRETEND TO BE A SERIAL KILLER
I had a weird school

If you go into a shadowy area during recess, you have to sit out recess.
(this was a real rule for some time last year)

I used to go to a school where girls were allowed to only wear stud earrings, and anything that dangled below the earlobe wasn't allowed. I could never understand why.

no guitarists or bassists in the orchestra, but they can be in band
That makes sense because who writes a part for a guitar (I'm assuming electric but acoustic too) or bass in an orchestra? Not enough people to need on a regular basis, that's who.

Maybe because the school board thought that the earrings could be pulled off, so they made that rule...

What's wrong with purple shirts?
In my school, from 8:15 to 8:30, you can't go in the hallways. You also can't go there at lunch. If you do, you will get yelled at.
Which sucks, because then the teacher who yelled at you basically thinks 'Oh, you're the kid who broke the traditional rule', every time they see you after that.

You'd think they would a put a restriction on big the earrings could be, then. One girl got suspended because her ears were newly pierced and the person who did the piercing put in hoop earrings.
